Update on this issue:
I found that the bracket does fit an alternator from an 7mge NA engine. This alternator is just slightly smaller, measured approx. 6-1/4" bolt hole spacing vs. approx. 6-5/8" for the 88,89 and 90 turbo alternators I tried.
Still no response from the vendor on this issue...
Trying to catch up. I've seen this on a couple of my Toyotas, mainly during the winter months when there's frequent short trips (ie: driving 15 min. to work) Doesn't seem to accumulate during the summer. Have you been going on fairly short trips in the car, I'm sure it's still cold up there...
I pulled an alternator from an 89 this weekend and it does not fit either. Looks to be the same hole spacing as on my 88, the bracket is about 3/16" too small.
Both have a Denso tag but thinking about it, I can't imagine Toyota would have used a Bosch alternator. All the alternator's I've...
Did you measure the two for comparison? I'm trying to get one of Seth's brackets but I need something soon so I may just go back to stock or try the Beech one.
My alt. is stock, AC compressor was a Camry/Supra hybrid but we were able to simply replace the brushes when this alt. when out so it...
Need to add the nylon bushings to the list (22 pieces for the control arms). I know of at least one set still floating around and I've been told he's looking to sell them.
Looks like a fun car, can't wait to see some more vids of it. I can only imagine what a mk3 with that power and weight drives like.
Wow, Gingerman must have a lot of tight corners. I needed more gear since I'm still running the original 7m and try not to redline it, instead shifting at 6k...
Are they original bushings or aftermarket? A couple of us found that replacing the bushings in rear lower arm #1 (round arm with swaybar tabs) would cause it to snap at the subframe end. Evidently that arm needs to flex like stock, I heard of some issues on the A1 arms and wondered if it was the...
Looks like they run restrictor plates in your class :)
That's a signifigant power loss occurring, not only the the reduced flow area but a big upset in the flow path right when it exits the head. Good luck in finding a new setup, should see some nice gains once it's matched.
I think you'll...
To the OP, if you're really limited budget wise I'd look to swaybars and bushings first. Like anything you're restricted by the weakest link, broken/torn bushings would be that as they control movement and transfer feedback. Swaybars are still the single best handling mod I've done.
That...
Interesting, this is the first I've heard of a different alternator between the earlier models and the 89+, thought I knew all the differences by now.
I'll check mine Van, pretty sure it's a denso but thanks for posting that.
I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up before, highly doubt...
Same goes for adjusters that are inaccurate or shocks with improper valving. As an example I had 3 shocks that extended very slowly on a set of used coilovers I bought. I assumed it was just the harsh ride of the coilovers and learned to drive around them. Discovered 3 were bad when going to...
Thought there was a local FS thread in here before.
Here's a link to some stuff I'm looking to sell. I'm in Richmond, VA:

That's the one I'm trying to use Fredester, the bolt holes are ~3/16 to close together. Thought it might be enought material to bore out and get the lower piece to line up but it would be awfully thin to make that work. Maybe they had a bad casting run?
I'm going to try something else...
