I daily drive mine and my 1JZ has given me zero issues. Just gotta make sure to do regular oil changes and she's happy. My stock twins however are on their way out so I'm replacing that with a big single soon. We'll see how reliability suffers after a power increase as currently I'm running a...
My buddy has a billet wheel in his S366 and he says the turbo got a LOT quieter once the billet wheel was put in. Seems to be the norm for a billet wheel Borg Warner compared to the cast wheel units. Just food for thought if you decide to go with a billet wheel on your turbo.
I've seen a bone stock unopened 1J do 900WHP with a 125 shot and a custom 71mm Borg Warner strapped to it. You honestly don't need to worry about the internals until you start going past 650HP where the rod bolts start to go past their comfort zone.
I also agree with getting a good wideband...
Jostar, the tuner that made 906 on that 1J is my tuner. He's a genuine guy and I can vouch for him.
It had a custom BW 71mm with a 125 shot and a R33 rear end. The dyno was known to read high however. He since has moved shops and now has a brand new Dynojet. Now that I think it, I remember...
The OEM bolts are TTY. My buddy with a MK4 told me that they should really only be used once. Though people do sometimes reuse them, but again that's super dangerous.
I've heard that some MK4 guys don't use the ARP flywheel bolts on their 2Js because the OEM ones are longer, even though the OEM ones are torque to yield.
If you need them I have 8 brand new OEM Toyota 2JZ flywheel bolts that I don't need as I reused my old ones for my 1JZ. PM me if you're...
So I figured I'd share this with you guys. Had my lower rad hose pop today on my 1JZ MK3. Found a Gates replacement hose that worked perfectly after some modification. Gates part #: 22043 is the hose. According to the internet the hose is the upper rad hose for the 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 1500-3500...
I wouldn't sell my car if push came to shove. I'm way too emotionally attached to my car to sell it. Hell even if it sat in a garage collecting dust, I'd still go to the garage and admire it.
You have quite the daily drive, take the Supra out once in a while. Put your foot down one day in 3rd...
Man this is nuts! I can't believe those numbers. Must be blast to drive on the streets with the spool time of a 6265.
Albert you are definitely an inspiration to me for my 1J build!
I've been daily driving my Supra on H&R Sport Springs with Tokico Blues for a year and a half now and they're beautiful. The ride is smooth and forgiving on the highway, and stiff enough to be confident in the turns. Mind you a suspension overhaul is desperately needed on my car seeing as it...
