    Maximum boost?

Backpressure is the reason why exhaust and intake mods are done first. To create boost, the turbo has to overcome whatever backpressure is in the system first, hot or cold side. Making 10lb boost on stock equipment is not the same as 10lb on a low backpressure system, the turbo will actually...

    smokes when i decelerat

Valve stem seals might give you this symptom also... Did you replace them when you did the HG? Daddycat--I'd really leave that to a shop...

    Hybrid Turbo Swap Questions

If it's just an upgraded CT, you should still be running the stock wastegate actuator. It will still open at the same time as the stock setup, which is something between 5-8 psi (6.8 maybe?). The flow at this level may be a little different, and the lag may be a little different, but I...

heater still has power after key is removed

Probably thought of this already, but was the key turned all the way back? As cars get older, the keys don't always fit as tight as they used to and will let you take them out without returning to the proper position. The keys used to actually rattle out of the ignition on my old '88 pickup if...

    TCCS question

Maybe I explained it funny... The numbers posted from the #2 test are just the limit values for pass/fail, so besides the fact that my car measured less than these designated values, we have no new data from the test. NOx and CO may have gone up/down or stayed the same, as long as it's less...

    TCCS question

:burnout: :burnout: Results are in... Thanks to all that contributed to getting my Supra back on the road (legally!) Your input was appreciated and valuable!!! VIP report only provides measurements when a vehicle fails any portion of the test, so I have no idea what my readings were this...

    TCCS question

Found a pic on SM of some dude's whole exhaust, so based it off that. Seems to me that boost builds a little quicker and drops off a little slower, so maybe there was a little leak. I'm thinking it's retest time. Will post results good or bad sometime this week! Thanks and wish me luck!

    yet another 'wont start' threads

If you've got no spark on all six, I'd check the ground coming off the coilpacks.

    TCCS question

Signals/samples look good. IC piping yielded some potential problems: Some type of oxidation building up on the union between the two turbo discharge to IC pipes. Cleaned it up best I could, but there was lots between the rubber and the pipe, don't really know if it was airtight or not. Also...

    TCCS question

I'm thinking that my next move is to put the original cat back on and retake the exhaust temps. It should still be operational. If I see a big change, I'll retest. Otherwise, I guess it's time to pony up for a new one... JJ-Did you want me to get a frequency on the Vf signal? I've got a...

Sorry if I mis-interpret you Nick, but given the data, you're thinking cat? Again, thanks to all that have contributed.

    TCCS question

Here's my thermometer:http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?pid=03482327000&vertical=Sears&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes I took the measurements at "point blank" range, but still noticed that reading depended on angle I took...

    TCCS question

Did the temp check again after the drive but results didn't match format we were hoping for: ~375F in ~250F body ~375F out I took all measurements between the flanges of the cat this time, last time it was downpipe/body of cat/exhaust and the differing materials may have given bad data...
