Did you try shimming the spacers? If it's a severe tilt then yes they won't seat right, but can't tell form your pics... dumb question: greased O-rings right?

Yes I do mean the fattest sets out there... I've come across many nice set-ups, I especially like the Saleen replicas with 17x9 +24 on a 255 all around, I would like the 17x10s with 275s but that requires lots of pulling and negative camber.. not something you wanna deal with here with such...

cool keep them coming... That's exactly what I was thinking: 17x9 +24ish with 255s or 265s... good track set-up for better F/R balance and less understeer...

If you're over 150K on stock bushings then I would replace regardless... but pry-bar with the car hoisted...

When I was young I always wanted an MK3 but is was nearly impossible (HiSchool grad in 94) so even used ones were expensive.. fast forward 'till now, after having a business (shop), built several cars (mostly old Bimmers) MK3s are back in my thoughts as I've seen one drive by (super rare here)...
