Installed new TPS and calibrated it. Car now idles great and can rev if given about 25% throttle or less. Any more than that it hits a rev limiter of some sort around 2k rpm at 50% throttle, and a rev limit of about 1k rpm at WOT.
CEL is on but will not save codes. Whenever I check for codes...
Its a stock Aristo harness and I never touched those wires. I only spliced in my body plugs. Is it possible the idl wire is grounding out inside the ECU? All other TPS wires check out.
Yes sir IDL shows 12 volts. I did not mention E2 since it's a ground, however that wire did show 0.0 volts so I'm good there.
Does it make a difference that the 12 volts I read on IDL was with the connector unplugged from the TPS with the key to the acc with the car off? I'll have to check it...
Hello SM,
I recently completed a 2J non vvti Aristo swap in my 86.5 N/A. It started up first try however it had bad idle surge and would not rev past 2k RPM. I replaced TPS, calibrated it to spec, and now car will not run unless TPS is unplugged. It then runs very rich however it idles great...
off boost get ready to take out alot of fuel. Do you have any way to control timing? I said it once and I'll say it again, spend some $$ and get a afpr for a much easier way to tune the fuel.
It's pretty easy to "base tune" a 7mge-t with an afc. Just watch the wideband readings...
Thats how it should be done Fuzz. turbo electronics will save you a head gasket and most likely a block. 7mge-t cressida I did not dyno however my buddy dynoed with 2.5in catback and hardpipes and he put down 233rwhp and 267wtrq with I believe boost leaks. My mk3 however seemed like it had much...
not EVERY 7mge is the same. My mk3 DID run lean on 6.8 psi. high 12 a/f's. However I do know of someone that ran 11psi safely with the same setup. I guess it depends on the status of your motor. I ran 2.5 i/c hard pipes, 3in turbo back no cats...Try it out. I do recommend an afpr. With an afpr...
gte fpr and ge's are pretty much the same. some 89+ turbo fpr's are a little different but not by much. You will run lean on boost due to the high compression but manily because of the GE ECU. Trust me, I've been through all of this before...

It's not gonna work in boost. I ran the same setup but with 440s. I had the safc +50percent and still ran lean on boost. HOWEVER, you can run 380's if you stay out of boost. I mean really, stay out of boost. I also hope you have a wideband. Your going to need one of those. Good Luck
