Want to get it shifting smooth again. From what ive read Redline 75W90 GL-4 MT90 is what I should run, and either Marlin or pickup bushings. Its starting to get colder out and noticed its getting alot harder to shift until it gets warmed up. How exactly does the black plastic surround come off? I know where the screws are I just dont want to break it or loose a clip or something, that kind of thing always happens to me.

I can hear what sounds like a dry/dieing bearing when I down shift into 2nd or when I let off the gas in 5th, not sure if its the tranny though, thinking pinion bearing, guess il find out when I drop the trans fluid :icon_mad:.

Redline mt-90....straight mt-90...says on the bottle "redline mt-90"

What black plastic thing you talking about? Is it the radio trim thing with the hazzard light switch? If so you just take out the screws and pull and I like to put the gear shift in 4th to give me clearance..

ya run redline. take the screws out and its going to pop off. prolly going to have to put the shifter in forth. just watch the part where the ash tray is cuz you could break that off.

i just changed mine out with mt-90(for 19 bucks a bottle! only sythethic oil in the car) for reassurance and i filled it with a 20 dollar pump from underneath. crappy tire--you need it for the diff neways...

I didn't notice any difference between my w58 before rebuild and with some cheap(ish) oil and after the rebuild with MT90.... Ok, there was a half a year period when I couldn't drive the car, but still there sure was no major difference.

I looked all over for MT-90 yesterday, only place that had it was out of stock, Canadian tire had Redline oils but no gear lube, Napa didnt have it, none of the local shops have it.

Whats another decent gear oil to run? Im fine with something cheaper, anythings better than whats in it now.

if you order it from titanmotorsports its $9.95 a bottle... and no its really not ok to run anything else... i couldnt buy it for about a month so i went with something by napa and its sucked... bad shifting between gears and hard syncros... redline MT-90 is worth every penny and there is NO substitute for it.

EDIT: im not sure of the difference it makes in the W58 trans, but it makes ALL the difference in the R154 trans.

Yeah, I think I'm not buying it anymore, cause I can only have it for 3x the price you can get it. Ugh...
But if you can get it for the 9 dollars you say....then it's probably worth it in the long run (RedLine is probably the best, everyone says that... top racing oils.)

well you can always give them a call and see how they ship it. there has to be a way or else they couldnt ship it to begin with.

Didn't see it posted in here but Billy M from Celicasupra sells a shifter bushing for the W58 that is supposed to make a huge difference. Might want to look into that.
