Never had BHG, probably had some in the bottom of the reservior that I might have forgotten about.
It usually had some in there, but since the swap it had been pulled out and put back in. I'll remember to put some in from now on.
Yup, learned something new.
Thanks all!!!
The front reservior? I still have it hooked up, just no coolant in it. I never put any coolant in there to begin with since the rad is always full, and it's not hiccupped even once.
Interesting. I will keep some in there and see if it goes away then. Thanks!
This is more of a curiosity question than anything serious. I just got done with my 7M swapout to a 2J, and now when I start her up the radiator "birdacge" light comes on for awhile, then flickers periodically and goes away after several miles. Some background info...
1: Had the light before...
Okay. I just do not understand this.
I JUST GOT DONE with a 2JZ-GTE swap in my '88 with Illumina II's, '89+ TEMS actuators, AND HKS EAC-T TEMS controller, and it still works?!
EXACTLY like it did when I was running the 7M-GTE?!
AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING WEIRD OR ODDBALL TO MAKE...
Carbon fiber rear side window louvers. Make up your own mold and you can sell 'em for profit!
Greddy Gracer rear wing. No one's making anything like them anymore, and they're the only decent wing I've ever seen on mk3's. Another in the "make your own mold" category!!
Look for "Mine's" ECUs...
IMHO, fuck a IV. To me it's an expensive marshmallow that would lop off a limb every month I'd have to pay insurance or personal property tax on.
I want... WANT, mind you all...... an MKII to go with my MKIII. A 1JZ turbo-swapped, angular-flowing, Terra-cotta Red 2-tone, digital-dashed...
Easy review... If you still have TEMS being used... GET THEM (the springs and Illumina IIs).
They ride nice, are selectable, and lower the car decently. I have that combo and the ONLY way I'll ever come off of them is if the I-2's become impossible to get by reasonable cost.
Because next step...
After my 2JZ swap we (Seth and I) found we had trouble bleeding out the air in the system for PS, and now the pump gets loud underneath the hood. I suspect a rebuild or replacement is in order and have found gasket kits out on the net to do this, but I've also heard about swapping in an electric...
We made up a heat shield to try and diffuse some of the heat away from the ECU in the engine bay, and I now have the turbo blanket on. Hopefully this will keep the ECU from getting too hot.
On another note, in our rush to get this up and going we forgot we left the old valve cover gaskets on...
