You're a pretty understanding guy if this is the case. Shouldn't they by paying you $40 for this damned mess?
BTW, I've never heard of a bent clutch disk in all my years of spinning wrenches. Kudos to you for figuring it out!
Sure, but if we only cared about economy and reliability we wouldn't have bought Supras in the first place :)
I don't want to take anything away from the OP - or your - build. However, I would argue that the advancements from the 350 to the Gen III V8 are such to render the former obsolete...
Ease of installation - I know that Maxima fans fit on the maxima radiator. Also I needed the whole package to be < 5" in depth. The Maxima is close. I considered checking out the Taurus, but didn't feel like venturing to the dark side (Ford side) of the junk yard.
No MKIIIs this time, but there were 2 MKIIs and a cressida.
Also a 928 with intact powertrain. Ya know, if you happen to be jonesing for a Porsche V8 project :)
Thanks, not much new. I want to get a radiator in before I do much else. I pulled a radiator and fan setup from a 89-94 Maxima. The dimensions are almost exactly the same as the Supra but with switched inlet/outlet locations and a nice dual efan setup.
It's just a hair too wide, so I have...
Another act of desparation: put in the old clutch disc and see if it works. Of course that means you'd have to do two more trans jobs at least.
Don't worry, the end is in sight. You'll get it.
The only way it could be the disc is if it was way too thick. Is there a thickness spec in the service manual? My money is on the hyraulics. The slave may be actuating, but is it actuating all the way?
For piece of mind, you may want to find another way of actuating the clutch fork. I...
Nothing like that exists for the Supra. GM computers are programmed to stream some data when asked. All that cable does is convert that data to a format a PC can understand (serial). Probably the easiest way to accomplish something similar on your car would be to run a megasquirt system...
Good points. I'll be the contrarian here and vote for the efans. A modern setup can just do more than the engine-driven fans. Many cars have 2 with variable speeds. An engine driven fan is pretty much on or off. An efan will give you max output when the car is idling. An engine driven fan...
