    Bluechulappa's 89Turbo restoration

Every time I open this thread I am quite disappointed to find a Supra that neither blue nor wrapped in a tortilla.

Here's my new valve cover. Had a buddy weld up the old oil filler and move it to where it won't perferate the hood. It's gold powderoat, but in pictures it look pale yellow :( Looks pretty sweet in person, though. ---------- Post added at 06:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at...

The braided hose is the feed. It's Russel -6 AN. I don't like wrap, so I ceramic coated instead. Pondering trying to put the original heat shield on.

No, I think would have preferred that, had I thought of it! You wouldn't think it, but tapping that thing was a huge pain. ---------- Post added at 09:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:09 PM ---------- Up-pipes coated and installed:

I went with the banjo, because I needed to somehow work with the existing plug which is M16x1.5. Not sure how I'd use a compression fitting on the block?

Here's what I'm doing for the oil feed fitting. The stock fitting on the right is oil galley plug for cylinder 6. To use it as an oil feed fitting, I drilled 3/8 through and then tapped M12x1.5 to match the turbo fitting. I also gound flats in the sides so I can put a 19mm wrench on it. Then...

Thank you. I may have to do that, as I think I just stripped the lower one. Seriously, it's made of cheap aluminum and they can only manage 3 threads on it? Might've had better luck making it out of oak.

Here's the beginnings of my oil feed line. What a PITA. The diameter of the hose fitting is greater than the width of the Banjo, so I have to fab a little spacer just to bolt it down. Of course that makes it too tall to work with the bolt that Russsell supplies with the fitting. I wish I...

There's several on car-part.com for under $500. I think I saw one or two for around $100. I scored mine on ebay for $125 and it came with a spare! There's several up right now with buy-it-now prices in the $250 range. They are all journal bearing. You don't need ball bearing when spool...

Thanks 87nasupra. Small updates: Here's my coolant inlet T-d for the turbo. I had to cut and reweld the nipple on the block to angle it away from the downpipe. Routing all this stuff so that it doesn't melt will be a real challenge ---------- Post added at 09:31 PM ----------...

    What the <explitive>!!!!!!!!

To the OP: Use whatever money you've scrounged to get a different car that will get you to your job. Maybe an old Honda Civic. Then use your job to earn money to pay your GF back. Then fix the Supra. If you do not follow this order, I suspect you will lose both.

    Limequat's 4.2l I6 Swap

Cool, thanks for the link. Hadn't seen that one before. I'm a little skeptical that a vvt "GT45" wouldn't have enough exhaust flow, but whatever works, I guess. The turbo I have is a GT3788VA. Garrett doesn't make a GT45, so I'm not exactly sure what he had. The ford version is a GT3782VA...

Thank you both for the offers of help. This will be my first foray into Megasquirt, and I'm sure I could use a hand in the programming. Bleakvoid, the possibilities are indeed endless. Speed dependent boost? Sure. Exhaust brake? Sure. Once installed, it's just coding to do some wacky...
