Ok, I did. Doesn't appear you're testing the TPS correctly but since both codes are TPS related it's probably shot. Then again since you have both codes and each part of the TPS is separate if it were me I'd check the wiring, at least the IDL contact. Short IDL and E2 and see if 51 goes away...
Both are next to useless compared to the factory manual. Buy one. If you'd had it you wouldn't have made the mistake you did with the AFM. That's why I never use the online one. It seems to be missing stuff.
Maybe this will help. I don't have one on my car but this is what the tech manuals say:
The ACIS is designed to shift the torque band higher along the rpm range. It does this by responding to changes in the throttle opening angle (VTA signal of the TPS) and engine rpm (NE signal in the CPS)...
The entire thing was less than $200 including the tail light mod. Just another reason for learning to do things on your own. I dunno where he's getting Luxeons for a buck though. Guess I need to stop buying them new although they'll be much cheaper as soon as Cree LEDS become more common. Too...
Well jeez figgie, I dunno what to say. I also have an 87 and while I'm not going to go tear my combo meter out of the car I'm sitting here with my unpowered spare (which you've made me remove the speedo from) and staring at a reed switch based magnetic sensor that outputs 4 contact closes per...
Come on figgie, don't confuse the TEMS steering sensor for the reed switch based magnetic (unless you have a digital dash) speed sensor. If you have a digital dash the opto-coupler is 20 ppr but then converted to 4 ppr by an internal circuit. Either way the ECU takes it in as 4 ppr. And all the...
I'm aware of how it works but you're still wrong. Speed information is more important than you think. As I said I know exactly what it does from both using my simulator and from what the factory TCCS manuals and the others I have say. Just because you can't feel anything without doesn't mean the...
The ECU does nothing useful with it? Figgie my man, you know not of what you speak. I can tell you exactly what it does and I wouldn't call it useless. No code? How about 42? Speed info is also used in more than the CC and ECU.
Anything can be done if you know how and throw enough money at it but so far nothing mentioned will supply the speed information the ECU and other systems need. Course that can be overcome too but when does it become worth it? How many new cables could you buy for all this? One new (or relubed)...
I agree. Cooler, better response time, longer life, less current, etc. Not only for everyday use but special apps too. A few months back I built and installed a multi-channel color organ on a neighbor's kid's car for all his exterior lighting. By changing all exterior lighting to led (Luxeons in...
There's no guessing about the theory for those who understand it. You were just another victim of those who don't know what they don't know. If I'd been around to see this post earlier I could've told you the problem right off. IGf is generated on the falling edge of IGt after the ignitor...
They are not the same. They do not occur at the same time and have very different signatures. IGf is very short, only as long as it takes the coil pack to discharge. It's only about 1 ms long. IGt is over 10 times that duration. It's no wonder you had trouble picking it up.
Then lube it now before it breaks. And be sure you don't install it backwards assuming that can even be done on this car, I don't know. A common mistake on cars it where it can be done, running it backwards will unwind the inner cable. To avoid all this you can sub it with a teflon lined cable...
Yeah, especially when it effects how the engine runs, as it will in this case. The reason they break "all the time" is lack of maintenance by either the previous or current owner. Mine is original. Lubing it every 50K is a bit of a hassle but at least I know I won't be buying a new one and going...
As you said it's just metal. As long as you remove the electronics and O rings you can do pretty much what you want. Skip the Polident though. Just hose it down with solvent or wash in hot soapy water. Rinse and let dry. Be careful not to damage the laminar flow screen and be aware there's a O...
CRE: Yes, the OX pin is the raw O2 signal. It's one of the three the most valuable troubleshooting signals in the car if you learn how to use it. Narrowband sensor signals are standardized so no need to hunt down manufacturer's data. Google "oxygen sensor" and you'll find more than you ever...
Yes, off the top of my head I believe it would. Tell your uncle he's got a sharp nephew ;).
MA70: The graphic above is somewhat misleading in that Vf is not a true indicator of A/F ratio. It's a trim value. It can only inform you of how much correction the ECU is adding or subtracting in it's...
