    emissions passing and egr port

I said modern EFI systems. I didn't necessarily mean the Supra. Most engines (and all Toyota OBD-II equipped ones) advance timing with EGR. All it would take to change things on JDM ECUs is tweaking of the program. If I recall correctly EGR on a USDM 7M isn't electronically controlled in the...

    emissions passing and egr port

Lagged, you'd make a good diplomat. EGR is used for NOx and detonation suppression. CO2 is an indicator of combustion efficiency. You want high CO2, the higher the better. A engine running in closed loop at stoichiometric will emit 14-15% CO2. Anything less and something is wrong. Clogging of...

How to correctly bleed the brakes?

Pimptrizkit got it right. The best way to bleed is by using a pressure bleeder. Don't view it as just for bleeding after brake work, look at it as a preventive maintenance tool. Brake fluid is highly hygroscopic. Replacing it every two years will prevent sludge, corrosion, and maximize braking...

    Under Engine Cover - Ebay

Don't get me started on Iffy Lube. Btw, my opinion is if you're routinely doing 130-150 mph on any road the public has access to, empty or not, I sincerely hope they take away your license. Be nice if they put your ass in jail for a while too. Again, happy motoring ;)

    Under Engine Cover - Ebay

Hey, whatever floats your boat. I rarely have any need to work under the car so I leave it on. No one has pointed out what it's really there for and that's airflow and cooling. If you think it doesn't do anything in that regard you haven't measured things. As the guy said, Toyota put it there...

MAFT Pro - N/A install - Translator Mode

Sure nuff. I like the rpm relay because of the priming but as long as he gets sufficient oil pressure while cranking why not. Need something to avoid becoming a crispy critter. There's always a halon fire bottle system too ;)

Sounds like you came up with whats called a "window relay". They're used to switch things off and on when the rpm is within a certain range. Not what I meant. Try searching on tacho-relay or rpm relay. Common parts on older Volvos and German cars. The G switch would be a lot easier. Less wiring...

    Under Engine Cover - Ebay

Agreed. Why would it always be coming off anyway? I can't remember the last time I took mine off and even when I do an air ratchet or power driver makes it a non-event.

You're learning. It's a stupid box, all it knows is signals and it could care less where they come from. I've run my engine off a frequency generator feeding into KS with the AFM sat in my kitchen collecting dust. Feed VS above .1 and below 4.8 vdc and it won't know from squat. Got a power...

    Stock Fuel Pressure

Looked at another way the Toyota Type A fuel system used on a stock Supra keeps the sum of manifold pressure and fuel pressure at a constant 36 psi ie; they'll always be a delta P of 36 between them. If this were not done injected fuel would vary with manifold pressure for the same fuel pressure...

MAFT Pro - N/A install - Translator Mode

The ECU sends out 5 vdc (VC) to power all the analog sensors. Coolant, TPS, AFM, etc. Inside the ECU there's a resistor directly connected across this 5 volts and the sensor input being monitored, in this case VS. This pull up is sized high enough in resistance that it doesn't have an effect on...

Yeah, Denver has been the shits lately. You should try flying in it. Hang on...I'm scanning this thread. Back in a bit.... Ok. Like I said I don't know much about this gadget but it's not hard to see how it works when I look at what it connects to. If the wiring is right configuration seems to...

MAFT Pro - N/A install - Translator Mode

Oops, sorry. I'd yanked out the turbo ECU book. Yeah, VS is the AFM input for the N/A. KS is for the turbo. The ECU should be happy with anything between the limits I mentioned. When I say happy I mean no code. VS still needs to accurately represent airflow but I'm only focusing on the code...

    Cool book.

Fwiw those guys publish the same sort of "portfolio" for many, many cars. I've had several for other cars but never got into the one for the Supra since I read all that stuff back when I bought it. They're all the same, a gathering of various industry rags and reviews. Interesting if you buy a...

MAFT Pro - N/A install - Translator Mode

CRE, dunno much about the Maft but your N/A TCCS requires an analog signal on the AFM input. Since the Maft also works on turbo cars (which require a digital signal) are you sure it's configured right? What do you have across pin KS on the ECU and E2? The signal must be below 4.8 vdc and above...

Sort of stuck need some help advice

Resetting the ECU only clears codes. It won't "fix" anything. Neither will changing the oil. If that's all you did there still be gremlins.

Would anyone be interested in a TRD shift knob group buy?

Huh. I've used an MoMo leather knob with set screws on my DD for 10 years. It's never come off or even loosened. While waiting for it to ship I used a Jack In The Box antenna ball. Worked OK but the pointy hat was kind of a hassle ;)

    Car failed MOT :(

Good luck with it. Frankly I'd rather deal with CA emissions than MOT. Much less hassle. Pass emissions and you're on your way ie; nothing else gets checked. In spite of what people think emissions is fairly simple stuff and easy to repair as long as you have the gear. You can buy older smallish...
