Is that why the Army calls for air support everytime they get in trouble? LOL...;)
Quick story...very good friend of mine was a brigade level ALO responsible for coordinating air support in the Iraqi western desert in '91. The Brigade Commander asked him what was available to take out T-72...
Seen em working from a higher altitude...clearing out a bunch of T-62/T-72 tanks in the Iraqi desert. Talk about carnage...that gun kicks ass and takes names against ground vehicles ;)
Yep! Cause if you read what I posted above, you're just about going to rebuild it anyway...that is unless you buy the Toyota short block & head. You'll still need to get the block/head lapped for the proper RA spec for a MHG ;)
Basically, you have to remove the throttle body, ISC valve, fuel lines, and fuel rail...the TRSM has more detail...it's not that hard to do if you have average mechanical skills. You should not have to remove the intake manifold ;)
To use a MHG you will have to deck (machine) both the block and head surfaces to the RA spec for the MHG used...30 RA for the HKS & Greddy; 50 RA for a Cometic. This is on any stock block and/or head. The front plate will need to be machined as well to match the block surface height...
Don't confuse the F-111 w/ the EF-111...completely different missions. ;) The F-15E has far more capability than the F-111 in the precision bombing role.
The AF didn't replace the EF-111...instead the F-16 & F-15E uses the external jamming pods. For 90% of the threats the US goes up...
Yep...I had a F-111 fly under me on the Nellis Range in Nevada (I was at 300' doing almost 600 kt)...he was kicking up a dust rooster tail across the desert. Once a F-111 was at speed low-level...you could not catch it. ;)
Coolest patch I ever saw was in Europe during the Cold War. It was...
Thanks guys...but, as usual, it's not that simple. Keep in mind these same groups make up the Iraqi Coalition government. The agendas are present inside this government and until they demonstrate the ability to think of the greater good...there will be problems for the government to keep the...
That's just it...it's very complicated. And our news media tends to over simplify (usually to further a political agenda in the US). You have to look back to when Iraq was created...a state (Iraq) was formed using lines on a map. No consideration was given to ethnic affiliation. And you are...
Oh it's true alright...after the 1991 war, we pulled out and Saddam immediately suppressed any support we garnered from the people. Basically we screwed them...one of the worst mistakes we have ever made in the Middle East IMO. And now we wonder why the moderate Iraqi's don't trust us?
I've...
I've seen that...we had the same type test aircraft here, but did not go forward with the technology. Something else to keep in mind from a combat capability perspective...you can have the best aircraft on the planet, but if you don't adequately train and keep your pilots proficient...it does...
The Kurds (Northern Iraq) did...Saddam gassed them, killing thousands. The people in Southern Iraq did...Saddam drained the marshes removing their living and starving thousands. Just a couple of examples of what happen if you crossed Saddam...asking for help meant you died.
No argument here...it is insane. But what you have to realize is the culture in the Middle East does not have the same values as the West. Not even close...their value on life is minimum and the rise of a fascist belief based on religion is making the situation much worse. I've spent some...
