    External oil pressure regulator?

Anal isn't the word I'd use. Tribology principles don't change between a 250 and a 500 hp engine. I'd like to hear from an engineering standpoint exactly how higher oil pressure would be beneficial. I already know but I'd still like to hear it ;)

    The last question applies ;)

Lol. This place never ceases to amaze. No, it's not right.

    oil catch can install

Lmao. As long as they put the crank at TDC on the compression stroke with the timing belt off they'll be OK ;)

    oil catch can install

Interesting you'd say that because although he should lose the check valve depending on the amount of blowby he's closer to right than anyone else I've seen. That nobody else seems to have done it that way underscores my point about many people not understanding how the PCV system works in spite...

Car won't start + one spare connector!

Not on the compression stroke? Good grief. Instead of blindly following the book you should learn how engines work. That way they'd be no confusion.

    Coolant Dilemna

Coolant "dilemna" aside seeing coolant in HG job photos is sloppy work on the part of the mechanic. The cooling system should've been flushed with water first then the block drained. Fwiw I install a petcock in place of the plug Toyota put on there. Makes future cooling system service a lot...

    Coolant Dilemna

Ugh. Thanks Dub. There was so much misinformation in this thread I'd decided to bite my tongue. I wrote that article a while back but I'm thinking the newer long life pink stuff Toyota sells is an HOAT based chemistry. Not sure though because I'll only use G-05. Recently put it in two other...

    Dipstick tube removal ???'s

Every one I've done just pulled out. Once the mounting bolt on the turbo is removed there's nothing holding it in there but an O ring. I suppose some could be corroded though.

In Car sensor, what will happen if removed?

Eh, it's OK. Everyone learns when stuff gets posted and it's not as if you're the only one who skimps on manuals. You should throw that Haynes out and buy a real one. Never have liked them. I'd love to read some of their other ones though...especially the one about women ;) http://tinyurl.com/2cmdl6

    oil catch can install

Look at how it's setup. Why would there be low pressure on that port unless the air filter was restricted? The pressure drop across the filter and AFM are minuscule (you want them to be) and the PCV port isn't near enough to the turbo to be affected at anything but full boost. Besides, why would...

    oil catch can install

It'll work better if it's plumbed properly. Not using the TB port removes the "positive" in positive crankcase ventilation. There isn't any vacuum on the accordion hose. That should be obvious from just looking at it.

    what's this thing?

Just grease up a NPT tap and run it in there. If we're lucky you'll break it off ;)

Woo! Head Gasket Boom Boom! Yeah!

What he said. There's no gasket stock but I install one on every car I deal with. If you use a thin material you can get away with a round one. Any thicker and you'll stress the CPS clamp casting. Best to cut a gasket the same outline. That's what I do. Use a new O ring with it and leaks will be...

In Car sensor, what will happen if removed?

Jeez, and I was trying to ignore this thread. The solar sensor is in the top of the dash. The in car temp sensor is the one in question here. If it's open circuited the system will run at max hot in automatic. If it's shorted the system will run at max cool. All this will effect only the...

    Conventional Oil Filters

If those EaO filters keep turning in the data I've been seeing I may break down and buy one. That's something coming from someone who dislikes all things Amsoil. It'd be a good tranny filter too. I'm hoping that spun micro-glass synthetic media of Donaldson's used in the EaO is going to turn out...
