Can't stand not having something? Then you need P/N 09843-18020. It's the official Toyota SST jumper for the diag block. Maybe Jeff can look it up for us. I'd love to know what the thing costs.
That's the downside of having better instrumentation. You'll see things in detail that were always there even if they're normal. As dub said you could still have a cooling system issue. Do you have a fan shroud? Stuff unrelated to the cooling system will cause the engine to run hot too. Timing...
Tis' true. Pomona makes a load of stuff that works just fine and cost less. My piercing probes are Pomonas. There are also lots of specialty automotive probes designed for specific makes but you can get by without them if all you're doing is a Supra. That said good tools are an investment. If...
Ugh. My mistake. That's $20 for the first and $50 thereafter. Not much teeth to it eh? This from a state that has higher fines for operating a snowmobile drunk or tying a dog to a stationary object for more than 3 hours. But hey, the weather is nice ;)
It seems they're about to add an amendment...
That is a shame. Too late for him but effective July 1, 2008 it'll be illegal in California to use a cell in the car unless it's hands free. $250 for the first offense, $50 thereafter. Exceptions are made for emergency calls.
Nah, you explained it in plain English. I'm just blind. Too bad they don't report it as it'd be nice to have a baseline for next time. Anyway good luck with it and I should be thanking you for motivating me into studying how things are done out there.
Most engines have some form of coolant bypass, called the secondary coolant path. It allows coolant to circulate through the engine when the thermostat is closed. The bypass promotes even engine cooling during warm up and thus prevents hot spots from developing. The bypass also allows the...
Glad it all worked out although I don't understand why the NOx and CO are now much higher. Anyway, thanks for letting us know.
While everything you did helped from the evidence you presented the main culprit was a dead cat. Keep the EFI system running right at all times or it'll kill that one...
CRE: The books show high pressure at both points. Makes sense. Unfortunately they show the pressures to be equal there. Whether that's true or not would require measuring them with a manometer, preferably a differential one using a static port at right angles to the flow and further back along...
You can check Vf. It won't tell you which codes are there but it'll tell you if any are set. You could also check pin W on the ECU to see which codes are there. Or use the super monitor if you have one. Too bad Toyota didn't bring W out to the diag connector like they did on other cars. If you...
An external leak no (unless it gets on hot stuff of course) but an internal leak in the idle up valve will cause PS fluid to be aspirated into the intake manifold. I've seen it happen on two cars. If an external leak is also present the loss of fluid from this will be missed.
Been beaten to death. Other than NOx being the most noxious and damaging of all pollutants run sans EGR at your own risk and know the TCCS expects it to be there. I've no doubt more than one BHG has resulted from no EGR. People blame it for blowing up number 6 on a stock gasket but it doesn't...
Clean motor Nick. How come you're not routing the sensor wiring in the clips? Nice to see a GTE that hasn't been all hacked up. Stock CBV and CPS wiring no less. All the factory widgets and clamps. Not sure about the hose support at the rear of the head though. No corrosion either. Looks almost...
The method works fine. You could get glue in the lock if you were an klutz and used too much but a little acetone would fix that in a heartbeat. edit: I'm having a bad day. Think I'll close shop for the night...
