    Ignition and timing

Are you using the stock harmonic damper (crank pulley) to match up to the 0 deg mark on the lower timing cover? I assume this is a new Toyota timing belt? Stock plug wires are fine for most. However, I like the MSD wires. Use either the NGK Coppers or NGK Iridium plugs. For the copper...

    some intercooler questions

LOL! Thanks man :) This is actually part of the answer to those "yo guys...I'm thinkin bout uppin my boost...what caz i git?" questions you see from time to time. Normally don't answer those...in this case...540 RWHP - 550 RWTQ - 24 psi boost...hell yeah! BTW - ran the numbers for the...

    some intercooler questions

Yeah all that comes into play...I think he's proved quite well what a stock manifold and intake are capable of ;) I'll bet he'll be able to get a little more out of it with 2.5" inlet/outlets on that intercooler. He'll lower below critical velocity and achieve more flow...the TB will become...

    some intercooler questions

The core itself has a .7 psi drop at 6.8 psi boost and a 1.1 psi drop at 14 psi boost....the core has an 89% efficiency (compared to 68% for stock). The piping size has a huge impact on flow. Aaron touched on part of it...the CFM flowed through the pipes is what give you the power out of a...

    some intercooler questions

Looking at Cartech's site...their cores are basically the same as a Spearco...bar & plate design. The core used on the one for a Supra is 3" x 8" x 18"...it flows 547 CFM per the chart. I ran some numbers through the calculator I posted...the restriction here is the 2" vs 2.5"...

Sorry man, but your thread has hit the gutter and has no hope of climbing out ;) I'm laughing so hard I got tears in my eyes :biglaugh:

So how old ARE you fuggers

:icon_mrgr Yep...even a little older than IJ...LOL Besides, I had to get something to replace the F-16 :evil2: And now you know why I have patience with the noobs (at least most of the time)...my son taught me that! ;)

    thermostat

The stock thermostat will be fine for you man...your motor will get up to operating temp faster and the ECU will shift over it's warm ops algorithms. There is really no need to run a cooler one...but, if it makes you feel better get a 180 deg...the difference is negligible. I would not go any...

    some intercooler questions

They make both...when I bought my Cartech almost two years ago, there was an option for either the 2" or 2.5" inlet/outlet. I got the 2.5" ;)

    thermostat

Considering your climate in KY...a 195 deg thermostat would likely be a better choice. If you want to increase the thermal capacity of your cooling system, get a big radiator like the CSF.

    thermostat

The ECU looks at coolant temperature to switch over from cold idle to hot...that occurs at about 176 deg F. In addition, the ECU looks at coolant temp for a bunch of other things...injector duration, timing advance, etc. If you change the thermostat to a colder one, it can make the motor run...

Im removing my EGR, so can I remove this thing?

I think he's talking about the EGR vacuum modulator...it can be removed with the EGR. The VSV (attached to the intake manifold) can be removed as well...you will need to plug the vacuum lines running to it. Same question though...why are you removing the EGR? No effect on HP and it actually...

    Wierd noise about 2k RPM

Could affect shift, but it might be a slightly low/high...something you may not notice. Also can affect converter stall speed. Checking the fluid for an overfill is as important as checking it for being low...it needs to be in the warm operating range with it warmed up (obviously). Might...

    Wierd noise about 2k RPM

Sorry - didn't realize you were running with no exhaust. Are you sure the flex plate bolts were torqued properly? Is your tranny fluid at the correct level warm...there's a specific way to check it in the TRSM for an auto.

    Wierd noise about 2k RPM

I have an auto tranny and mine made a sound similar to what you described...a sort of "buzzing" sound that was louder at low rpm. Turned out it was the downpipe...there is a bracket that secures the downpipe on the passenger side of the tranny that attaches to the bellhousing. It fits right...
