In reply to a question posed by member Aspec, regarding the improved grounding I mentioned in a recent thread:
The igniter electronics are potted. A ground strap exits the encapsulation and connects to a screw inside the top case. The lower case is screwed to the top case and then bolted to the...
8 psi at hot idle and about 38 psi at 3000 rpm on Penz Plat 5-20. I'm sure it's right as I arguably have the world's most accurate stock gage. Recently calibrated it using NIST traceable standards in order to resolve a slight idle speed offset.
Come on Dub, everybody knows Pennzoil is full of...
If that were the case it'd be reflected in the NB signal. It's not. Then there's the Vf issue. The data (assuming it was taken correctly) doesn't jive yet it's being ignored. Tangents are sure to follow ;)

Feeds evap temp to the amplifier. One of a few signals that'll kill the comp clutch. It's been so long since I've been in there I don't recall if it has actual contact with the evap but I'm assuming it does. Then again according to the link above it appears to be...
How do you know it's freezing? What's the low side pressure? What is center vent temp with fresh air, medium blower, fast idle, and windows open?
My other question is why would you expect a TXV system to cycle, especially during a Louisiana summer. Did you try bluepearl's suggestion?
Sounds...
That should make it run richer, not leaner, assuming the NB and WB are near one another..
6o4: 800 mv is rich. If the average at OX is 420 mv your WB is lying to you. I suspect that's what Doward is getting at.
Btw there's no way you could have cross counting at 420 mv and Vf be 0 like you...
Damn tinyurl doesn't seem to be working but check ebay item number: 250130980706
Couple more on there too, one at $40.
The transducer is a tad bulky but it's nice to have a remote readout at times and as I said the range is good. Other firms make these things too but they're way more expensive.
Nice job on that post CRE.
Dunckel: There's a dealer test box that can be plugged into the connector but it's not very useful other than to display everything in one place. I had one years ago but got rid of it. You can do the same thing with just a meter. I only wish the car were OBD-II.
Forgot to mention: I also have an electronic torque "extension" in 1/2 inch. It's from Craftsman I believe. I don't think it's still available but I often see them new on ebay for around $80. Peak hold, settable target, beeps, displays in pounds or newtons, etc. Not bad for the money.
I don't...
Something is wrong there. If you're lean Vf should be showing 5 volts. Makes me wonder if you're even in closed loop at idle. You can't use Vf to check at idle though. You'll need to measure the OX terminal instead. Or use Vf and crack the throttle just enough to open the IDL contact.
Doesn't jive with his symptoms. An ungrounded igniter won't produce spark because there's no ground path for the coil drivers. He claims to have spark so the igniter must be grounded. Improved grounding for the igniter is a good mod though. Mine has the internal ground brought out to the battery...
I own both because some applications require torque and hold. A micrometer clicker can't do that. Beam is more accurate and holds that accuracy better too. That said I use the clicker for most jobs.
You said you didn't have any continuity. Now you do? Which is it? I told you, it's a slight bad connection. If you cycled the connectors while doing your measurements you probably fixed it. Be happy until it happens again.
Well, if you had no continuity at all the engine wouldn't run so you must be doing something wrong. Also, that you're measuring continuity with the circuit energized (unless you're voltage tracing) tells me you might need a lesson in meter usage ;).
Wtf? That's bad advice if I ever saw some, in several ways.
Casper: While I won't dispute your compression test I will say it's not possible for bad rings to cause a code 31. A code 31 will however cause the problem you're having. I'd be getting a second opinion if I were you.
Hey, it's OK Merl. I know how frustrating things can be. My computer makes me nuts at times but it'd likely be a cake walk for you. Thank God the stuff I fly behind doesn't run on Windoze.
So he did injector pressure drop tests? Appears I may have underestimated the guy after all. My bad...
