You've got it covered Doward. Nothing more I can add other than to say there's no way the fuel pump/alarm theories could cause a 14. Entertaining though....
Good mechanical knowledge of electrical systems? What does that mean, he can tighten battery clamps? I'd need to know what instrumentation he used and what he observed to offer an opinion but regardless of that the product you're asking about is almost certainly the electrical equivalent of...
I dunno much about the AEM Jake. All the defog and headlight inputs do is control idle speed through the stock ECU. The defog input compensates for the electrical load by keeping the idle speed near the same valve while the headlight input bumps it up a few hundred rpm. I dunno if that can be...
zoppii got it right. One is for the turbo sensor and the other two are for idle speed control during defog and headlight operation. IIRC only 87 and 88 ECUs have the separate pigtail for those functions.
I'm not sure it does but it's easy enough. Remove the small undercover, disconnect the hoses and connectors, and take off the one nut inside the fender below the air cleaner. Tank should drop out. Clean it out good and make sure all the pump grommets are sealing well.
Ugh. Dichloromethane is bad stuff. Bad for humans that is. No huffing allowed ;). And yeah, ethyl acetate makes that can a double whammy for fluorocarbon.
I have no dog in this fight but it's well known acetone is incompatible with fluorocarbon (Viton is a Dupont trade name) elastomer. Any chemical compatibility chart will show this. For example:

The regulator isn't going to work if the pump isn't delivering a constant flow. It'll be chasing it's tail. If you hear the pump whining up and down you need to fix it. First thing I'd do is measure the voltage or current to the pump at the diag connector or at the pump itself. It could be a...
That would be DMC of Garden Grove, one of a handful of Delorean service centers still around. I've never used one because I know the car very well. Reflective paint used on signs? Lol, that's funny shit. No, as far as I know having the car polished to a mirror shine isn't a problem, at least not...
No problem. Since conventional EFI uses 12 volts as the reference it's understandable. I've been watching and you're doing a hell of a job on these minor electrical threads. Thanks, saves me from doing it. It's also obvious you've more patience ;)
I read all of his post. As I said, he demonstrates limited electrical knowledge. I guess my question was do you have a UK car? Not that it matters much because your problem has been resolved. Maybe.
Just a note: VC is 5 vdc and can be referenced to E2. VS can be tested from either end using a long wire or with either end shorted to ground. It's better to test voltage levels than resistance because that's what the ECU samples. Seeing how a vane meter is pretty simple though I suppose...
