    The 7M Stinger Thread

Hey, no problem. Aaron asked me to chime in and since I owe him I was glad to help. Ask if you have more questions. The missing 6th wire is the ground Toyota should have put in for the igniter instead of depending on the case being bolted to the chassis. They should've run a wire from the...

    The 7M Stinger Thread

Both of your drawings seem to be the same and both are wrong. I can only tell you how the stock 7MGTE setup works. ECU to igniter is 4 pins and igniter to coil packs is 6 pins with one missing and one going to the tach. Except for the mislabeled igniter signals it's wired just as the book shows...

    The 7M Stinger Thread

Huh? Iirc the coils should have two pin connectors. Edit: Ok, I see what you mean. You're talking about the sub harness connector that's in between the igniter and coil pack harness. It has 4 pins but further divides down to two pin connectors for each coil. One of the wires from the igniter...

    The 7M Stinger Thread

Well, I'm gonna need more than 10 seconds ;) Yeah, it's screwed up as far as labeling but the pin numbers and colors are correct. The photo is also correct. The four pin goes to the TCCS, the six (5 wires) to the coil packs and tach. What makes you think the six pin runs to the ecu? Keep in...

Need input: 89 gte, wiring, ecu into 87 n/a

What relay? Integration Relay #2? It's up behind the fog light switch panel on an 87, same as shown in the online TSRM: http://tinyurl.com/332p2n Why don't you have a real manual and an EWD? And why not simply move the wire instead of getting another harness? I'm confused...

You be welcome. Slo was just trying to help so cut him some slack eh? ;)

    Help, electrical

Did you arc and spark something? Never work on the car with the battery connected. Check the alternator and main power fusible links. Both need to be good to supply power to the ignition switch. Since the headlights work the other links in the fuse box must be OK.

Need input: 89 gte, wiring, ecu into 87 n/a

This rings a bell but it's been some time. If I recall correctly the problem lies in connector B1 (located near the ecu) but I forget the exact issue involved. It's a difference between the engine and body harness that results in a problem between the theft system and the headlight circuit...

    How to Raise Secondary activation?

Even if you did change it what are you going to do about ignition timing? The ecu alters it at the same time it activates the ACIS.

I assume you're referring to this, although there are better ways. http://tinyurl.com/2qklxl pozhalasta ;)

    Cruise Control Computer

It's a moot point now but it does show the difficulty in trying to troubleshoot things over the internet, especially electrical stuff. Anyway, my compliments on not giving up and going deep. The "I'm smarter than this thing and it's not going to beat me" approach is a great way to learn even...

    Cruise Control Computer

Hmmm. If the relay wasn't making contact it would have been impossible to have voltage on pin 10 of the CC.

    Idle jump?

Sounds like fuel cut. Not the made up term often used by this community but the real one. Does it do it with the pedal buried? If so check for code 51 with the pedal off idle. If you don't get it that's the problem.

    Knock sensor (help)

Not that it's going to help but: Code 53: ECU knock control fault. 1) ECU Code 54: Intercooler ECU Signal. 1) Intercooler coolant level low. 2) Coolant level sensor circuit. 3) Intercooler water pump circuit. 4) Intercooler ECU circuit. 5) Intercooler ECU. 6) TCCS ECU. I'll leave you...

You'll be back alright but it'll be with the same problem. There's nothing in the coolant sensor circuit that can blow the EFI fuse...

    cold start time switch

Perhaps you're confusing the cold start injector itself with the time switch. While it's certainly true a bad time switch could impair cold starting there is no way it can effect idle or mixture once the key is released from start. This is because the only power source for the entire cold start...

    cold start time switch

Uh guys, it's impossible for a busted cold start switch to affect either idle or mixture beyond starting.

How much do you pay for a new can of R12?

I've explained the problem with Freeze 12 before. It's 80% R134 and 20% R142. R142 is miscible in mineral oil, that's how Freeze 12 gets away with being a "drop in". The problem is you now have 20% of the refrigerant carrying the oil instead of 100%. This makes Freeze 12 a time bomb. When the...
