just a thought, boost leak tester

I thought that was intuitively obvious but hey ;). He needs to keep it low. Couple of psi will do. Hell, my smoke machine is limited to only .5 psi and it shows all leaks.

    auto box fluid change

I've also heard flushing a crapped up tranny will kill it but since I've never see it happen I refrained from jumping in until now. My opinion is a flush using the cooler lines and refill with synthetic is worth the risk. At least do several pan dumps over time and install a filter as the...

just a thought, boost leak tester

A smoke machine is better for that job but sure, why not?

Does that make sense? And why would he leave it that way?

    Timings Off

As brainless as following the manual is people who don't understand something as simple as the why and how behind valve and ignition timing shouldn't be working on cars. We're talking Auto 101 here, very basic stuff. I understand not everyone knows how but 15 minutes reading any car repair book...

    Timings Off

Why is that? Since it's clear you're also lost why do you need to be there? Why did you pay an idiot to do something so simple? Something every first year mechanic understands? Something clearly spelled out in the service manual? I'm confused. You need to take the car to someone who knows...

    car won't start

Right, NE and Ks are critical signals but with trim sensors it doesn't matter much. That makes you right about the TPS. Since there are several failure modes of the TPS one has to define "bad" but in every case they won't prevent the engine from starting or being driven. Only one type of failure...

Still hitting fuel cut... Please help!

That should be "wouldn't be wise". Yeah, feeling ok. No more grumpy than usual. Btw hows the little one doing? I saw the photo. Great pic of a tough guy being tender ;)

It won't prevent starting. It will prevent starting. Lol, I pity the noobs who come to this place for advice...

Still hitting fuel cut... Please help!

I assume he's referring to me. Since it's an honor to be confused with His Holiness I'll let it slide ;). fiy: A leak is what I suspected. That hose is a common failure point and you aren't the first to repair it that way. Interestingly that hose on my car is original, as are all my intake...

    car won't start

Do know what the term "post hoc" means? It's a logical fallacy, an error in reasoning common among people without training in diagnostic skills. You were a victim of it. That's why he's asking.

Still hitting fuel cut... Please help!

Use of solvent on the electronics is at your own risk. The last guy I know who used a cleaner (the CRC stuff sold for hotwire MAFs iirc) killed his. Why people attempt this in the first place is puzzling because there isn't any cleaning that can be effectively done that way even assuming a need...

    cold start injector

The thermal time switch is only used for the injector. Just unplug it for a few weeks during the season you use the car and see how your engine handles not having cold start injection. Then go from there.

    a/c question

Well, that's the way it needs to be done. You're just going to have to track it down. I repeat, check the continuity on the dual pressure switch. It's possible there is no refrigerant in the system. If so the clucth won't come on. If you want to check the clutch itself jumper 12 volts from...

    a/c question

Yes, you're doing it wrong. Connect one side of the meter to the wire and the other side of the meter to the engine block or compressor itself. You can also use battery negative but it's always better to check the ground at the device itself, in this case the compressor. The key and AC need to...

    a/c question

There's only one wire that "goes" to the clutch, the 12 volt one from the relay. The other wire coming out of the clutch should be connected to the compressor itself as a ground. How are you determining the wire in question is ground? If you're measuring ohms that's not going to work. It'll show...
