Don't do anything to this car for power. Get it running right. Also, was there ever a head bolt retorque? If not, or you are not sure, pull those valve covers and torque all of them to 75ft/lbs.
Any history know on the motor?
I bought the MAC solenoid to use for my QSV. The -3AN fitting is the feed and the barb fitting is going to be used to feed the boost PSI to the QSV. I would have done a -3AN to feed the wastegate, but I did not want to weld a -3AN on the QSV's wastegate to avoid any problems with the wastegate.
I ordered my MAC Solenoid to control my QSV.
I am going to be running a straight pipe exhaust and when I decide on my muffler, then I will put it on. :)
First make sure the rods are installe correctly but I believe they are symetrical. Just shave the piece of the block with a dremel and you will be fine.
In that case, you will have to find a used radiator or get a new one. I know BigZavs is selling a Koyo for 350 if that is in your budget.
If not, just get a replacement from DriftMotion.
Stop as soon as you feel the nut give a little turn, as that is enough. May not even be an 1/8th of a turn, even less. Just as soon as you feel a little turn on the nut, that is fine.
If you take the radiator to any radiator store, they can usually weld it up for you. Is it one of the vanes?
I have contacted the grumpy old man and he said between 5-7 full heat cycles.
One heat cycle = Up to operating temperature and then back down to being dead cold. Allows for thermal expansion and cooling.
When retorquing, it is suggested that you back off the nut just a little, get it to...
Certain Anti-freeze have a oily film to them. BMW anti-freeze is one of them. Crack open a new bottle and you will see.
Fill it with Toyota red or don't fill it at all. Ian will agree with me on this as it is one of the best things you can do for your cooling system. The previous owner...
Food for thought, I always use a stock Toyota radiator cap. I never like the higher pressure caps for obvious reasons.
Higher pressure means a higher boiling point for the coolant. You should not need a higher boiling point if you have a good clean cooling system and a working fan clutch with...
I would get the HKS Hi-Power but the Burns is the same price and sounds really raspy, then again, HKS is a deeper kind of tone too.
Called to get quotes on some mufflers, going to see what I get before the end of the day.
Crush washers from Toyota might not be a good ideal. Any local auto store would have a set of crush washers that you can buy in a kit and keep. Makes sense since they are used a lot. Just a suggestion but it they are cheaper at the dealer, then that is good too.
I would suggest just buying...
Friday, I started to clean up the engine bay by tucking the main harness under the radiator support since I filled the holes that used the stock holders. I also painted the subframe and prepped the engine bay to be sprayed the next day.
On Saturday, I painted the engine bay, clear coat and...
