You might try putting the rotor in place, and the cap, and lining up the rotor to #1 terminal. Make a mark on the outside edge of distributor housing.
Then install dist. with rotor in place and cap removed. You will need to rotate the shaft a bit to the left (counter-clockwise) of #1 marking...
Your brakes are your life (and every other mofo out on the road with you). I have rebuilt around 20-30 for customers thru the years, but for the last 10 years I just use a remanufactured. Easier, and warrantied. Out of 30-40, I've only had one bad out of the box. Non have ever come back...
I hadn't heard that the anti-theft system would set if the battery were drained. That may be what happened to yours.
Lock the doors with the key, then unlock them with the key. That should reset the system.
In the "on" position, the 'start circuit is not being activated, so I doubt it is a relay, starter, or connections at those 2. You drained the battery totally dead. You may have killed it. It may not accept a jump. It may never re-charge back up. Been there, done that.
If you took a...
The 'strong' magnet sounds like a good, cheap fix if the cable breaks. I had wondered about what to do. I think if you end up pulling the interior panel to manually release it, you could attach a small wire to the latch and then pull it from the inside of the cargo area.
I would think that...
When a slave cyl. goes bad, it will leak fluid out on the ground (eventually). This is because it is the slave. If the seal goes bad, the fluid MUST come out to the world.
A slave's piston can seize in the bore (mine on 1969 Datsun 1600 Roadster, on fwy on-ramp at midnight). If it...
Yes, this is a true thing. But afyter the car has been worked on thru the years, they disappear. And most people (including lazy me:nono: ) won't go to dealer and order them.
What's with those 'Prestone' caps??
It looks like modnar's hose clamp is directly over the 'lip' on the radiator inlet pipe. I would do as maroon88 suggests. You could drive off campus and pull over on the side of the road and do it. I could do it in 30 seconds.
It depends on a couple of things.
1) Is it for racing only, not street?
2) Do you live in a smog inspection area?? If you do, you won't be able to get it smogged or registered.
If not, then it may be worth having for a 'fast & furious' experience.
Test lights can be found at any parts store, sears, wallyworld, hardware store. Just get a sturdy one. I've had mine for 20 years, as a professional car fixing guy:biglaugh:
And have NEVER had to replace the bulb !! (and I hope after saying that, it doesn't blow out tomorrow):icon_evil
JSPEC....do you have the 'adjustable' cam gears?? If so, they may need some adjustment, as you really need a dyno to set them up properly, for you mods and hp's.
If its on the ground its not the BHG. When the weather turns cold, the hoses shink up a bit, and will coolant will find a leak at a clamp point. About 3x a year I put a screwdriver to all my clamps, and "snug' em up a bit.
Tony, the 1989 IROC Camero with 5.7L actually got/gets 17/25mpg.

My aunt had one. It was a badass car. I loved driving it. I'd rather have one than a 1989 Corvette. I couldn't believe the fuel economy either. I've since found out (from...
Very helpful and constructive post.....NOT !!:3d_frown:
I 'always' fill my tank full. I don't run below 1/4, because if there is any crap in the tank, it will pick it up below 1/4 full.
I 'always use my trip meter to check my mileage at each fill. Before my head gasket job, I always got...
You would not believe how many times I've heard over the last 30 years as a mechanic, that "it didn't have a problem until some other work was done", not even related to the new problem. The guy said it himself, it started after he did the water pump.
So... first look at the wiring...
Be sure to check the suspension arms.
