yes, that's exactly what I did. The only thing that I didn't use from the Soarer was the intercooler and piping, engine harness, ECU, clutch fan and waterpump. All of these things are different from the Supra.
The supra is mid sump. what is this rear sump that I often hear people talk about? Did the JZ engines come with 3 different sump configurations??
The only ones I have seen is front and mid (rear?). And I personally yanked my 1JZ from a Soarer clip and dropped it in my Supra. The pans are the...
you can keep your fluidyne rad with the hydro fan setup. just make some mounting tabs for the fan shroud.
For your temp sensor just drill/tap a pipe, cut out a piece of your upper rad hose, and place that pipe there. voila, working hydro fan setup.
I installed 2JZ 550s and the engine idles like crap and fouls all the plugs. It fights to stay running.
Definitely need to take out some fuel with these.
hell, even if you don't get it with your clip, get the hydrofan setup anyways. not that hard to source parts for it (i had to source parts for my hydrofan setup) and is very well worth it imo.
don't forget about the tensioner. if you have never changed a timing belt on a JZ engine, you will need a bench vise or a hydraulic press to push in the pin. once it's pushed in, use a small hex key to retain it.
also make sure to not push the hex key too far out; it will get in the way when...
use air tools. if that fails, put a long (5' +) pipe over your breaker bar and try to get it off that way. and if that fails, use the starter to get it off.
make sure you have a harmonic balancer puller to get the crank pulley off once you remove that bolt.
