The studs themselves only need to be threaded finger tight in to the block. If you could pull them out with an alan key before loosening the nuts though, yes, they weren't tightened properly.
If the gasket already started leaking, a retorque may not give you a proper seal. You may have to...
For a lot of the super high temp paints you need to bake it on after applying for it to actually withstand the temperatures it's rated for. As for the temperatures the heat shield is reaching, well, my laser thermometer just goes to "Error" whenever you point it near the turbo after a cruise...
Yeah, that's what I thought too. They did have two different part numbers, one for reman one for new, so I dunno. No core charge either. None the less, we'll see what happens with the hose change and some more bleeding. Going to be doing it Monday.
They were Beck Arnley and supposed to be new, not rebuilt. And this MAY have been happening for longer, I just didn't notice it. It's not sticking NEARLY as bad as it was before, as in I got a 5mpg increase on my next tank of gas (though the last one also had some snowy weather which included...
The head has less than 5000 miles on it since I put it on the car, and machine shop had looked it over thoroughly before I even considered putting it on. My last head had annealed and cracked, so I didn't want to have the same thing happen twice. Since it's been put back together it's never...
I've got a Bosche one in my car right now, it's been working fine for the past year. My Toyota one decided to start grinding away on my flywheel one day (on cranking), and that was the quickest thing I could get my hands on that still looked somewhat trustworthy. I did like the fact that their...
Yeah, I was going to get the driftmotion kit regardless, heard nothing but great things with it. Anyone know if it's possible to do all the holes with the engine in the car?
So I went to retorque my exhaust manifold studs yesterday because I'm just waiting for my turbo support brace to get here and I find myself with one stripped hole (stud spins). It's the second last one to the back of the engine, so I MAY be able to get in there with a drill without taking the...
Ok, so this morning it's rotating freely again....doesn't really make much sense. Even tried pumping the brake a couple times while on the hill and it seems to be happy. Strange....
What turbo you planning on using? I know it's within the reaches of a 57-trim CT. You'll probably want an AFPR and wideband, but otherwise you've got the fuel to support it. Bottom end should hold up fine as long as everything's measured and in spec :)
I'll give that a shot but last time I took it apart it was fine there, it was the piston that was seized. When replacing the caliper it was very generously lubed as well.
Yeah, after doing a bit of research I found some had issues with the soft line between the caliper and the hard line as well. If that is the case, should I bother going with a stainless steel braided kit or just get OE lines? Are the braided lines by design any better or just a waste of money...
So last month I replaced my front calipers because the left side was sticking really badly and any attempt I made at resolving the issue lasted to about the first stop sign. Put new calipers on, flushed the old fluid out and put in some new DOT3, and everything was nice and happy.
I notice...
Just because it has the capacity of flowing 255lph @ 100psi doesn't mean your injectors work properly at the pressure. The regulator is there so that you can REGULATE the flow to the injectors. Spec for the stock injectors will never change with a new fuel pump, therefore use the stock...
