    CT-26 60-1 Questions

^ I have read about this, but isnt this dangerous? Initial startup you will see higher RPM's in the 2000 area, wont that cause the wheel to spin with a fair amount of force? Im new to turbos, so im probably wrong, but i would feel a little uncomfortable starting the motor up with my fingers...

Couple questions, oil pump shaft bearings, cylinder size

Thats what i would like to do, the only problem is that they are located far from me, so i wouldn't be able to go back and give them the pistons. I could mail them, but that seems like a lot of hassle for the machine shop to deal with. Also, another thing i am concerned about is the price would...

    CT-26 60-1 Questions

Its a full floating bearing, so it will have a little bit of play. Make sure you prelube it properly or it will trash the whole rebuild instantly.

    Re using Titan MHG?

Make sure you get the rivets out and clean teh front and back of each layer, then copper spray each side of each layer as you put it back on the block. Use brakeclean and a toothbrush like you said it makes things so much easier

    Head/Spark Plug Insert Question

Do you guys think it is a good upgrade to do when the head is off? ( sort of like doing helicoils on the exhaust studs even if they didn't strip out)

A/C expansion valve and Evaporator Core Question?

As far as i know, when strictly filling a system, high side doesnt even need to be connected, it is only connected for pressure reading purposes, and all the filling is done through the low side. Also, it needs to be filled with the car running and AC on.

Couple questions, oil pump shaft bearings, cylinder size

Everything i have read has told me i need to buy the pistons before the machine shop can properly size the bores. Not to mention i am using a machine shop 5 hours away, so back and fourth to the shop is not a possibility. I honed the bore out as much as i could with a ball hone and the scratch...

    Aloha from Hawaii

Ouch! Sorry to hear about your losses, but glad your injuries were minimal. That could have ended way worse. Good luck with the new car.

    Oil pickup gasket

This is a risky spot, don't use RTV, if you have any leak, even a pinhole leak you will suck air into the system and last time i checked air doesn't lubricate very well. Get a Toyota gasket and never worry about it again.

    Ftw!!!

You guys are retarded, sounds like you all are so fed up with your own lives that you get joy out of telling him "welcome to the real world"... Just stfu that was needlessly said so many times in his other thread anyways. Not a lot of 17 year olds have to go through that kind of stuff, so as far...

    making my stock 7mge turbo?

Its not worth it, you will end up spending more to convert your NA to a turbo than you will to swap a complete setup. The high compression pistons in the NA will make it a head gasket eater. Trust me i have contemplated doing this several times and its just not worth all the work and effort. Not...

Couple questions, oil pump shaft bearings, cylinder size

.50mm over is the same as .020" over. Thats all i am concerned with, if .020" over is enough to remove the scratch.

If I ever get my hands on the bastard engineer...

My guess is they didn't want people using a big 3/8 ratchet to tighten them down and strip out the aluminum, which many people seem to do anyways.

    rounded off arp's

Put a magnet down in there to catch some of the shavings, the entire heat will likely need to be cleaned thoroughly as well though. The previous owner of my engine did the same thing but on a stud nut and used an extractor. He decided it would be a good idea to grind the head aluminum away so he...

Couple questions, oil pump shaft bearings, cylinder size

Hello everyone i just have a few small questions. Basically i have a bare block that has already been hot tanked and i noticed it still had the original oil pump drive shaft bearings in place. I have read that they need to be replaced if they have been hot tanked. I installed my drive shaft and...

    Headgasket Prep advice

People dont say "fail" etc etc because they are full of themselves, they say it because theres obviously a serious lack of research on this guys part, and this stuff has been talked about over and over, in fact it may be one of the most discussed things on the board. Granted theres no reason to...
