Easiest way to know if it's the brakes is to loosen the 4 bolts on the master and pop it away from the brake booster (breaking the airtight seal). If you hear a hiss or see brake fluid come out of there, then it's screwed. But, like I said, you have your PCV system disconnected. You didn't...

Seen worse engines that ran fine. It CAN be cleaned though (and will be cleaned passively by any good synthetic, but it will take longer)

Going by the OP's description of this guy's skills, he's gonna half ass it...

Exactly, PCV puts vac. on the crank case to help seal the rings, without it hooked up it will suck oil past the rings...

PCV or possibly sucking in brake fluid would be my guess, unless the rings are screwed (compression test ;) )

It's molded in, the turbo badge is stick on though.

Could just be a tired turbo, it's obvious it's going out the exhaust, but it may not really be oil... Are you consuming oil?
