I was wondering a few things about supras...first, what everyone thinks about buying engines as opposed to a full car...I've been thinking and the cost of a decent supra can be anywhere between 500 dollars to 7000 depending on how it's been kept...

i've always wanted one. found a supra first and my parents didnt want me in a small car that's prone to loosing it in the rain. :cry: :nono:

no exterior pics? sounds like a good deal..
i agree on taking it easy until youfigure out what's going on under the hood. especially check on the status of the head gasket. fixing it early before it blows or starts progressing is the best time to catch it of course...it might save you some...

by lapping the valves is that re-seating them? i was thinking of just having them do a valve job when i get the head surfaced.

-replaced one tail light seal..the other hasn't busted yet.

-tried to shine the neglected rims...not exactly getting a shine but closer
-began flusning power steering fluid...might just dumb it now that i'm BHGing.

Ok everybody...ran into a new problem.
I started removing the exaust manifold today to get ready to pull the head and the rearmost bolt and stud were rusted together and the stud was stripped before it came into my hands...so they both came right out. I did some research and i'm either going...
i just found out that i'm in Cali but have a non-cali supra...nice! it's funny cause it passed smog even without one of the cat's ;) !
I might as well take advantage of this and install a test pipe...
I looked at mine and it has no connector...mine's a 1986.5 and not a cali with emmissions...
