Those are early manifolds, later ones have more ribs and don't crack as easily (mine isn't cracked)

Also, it sounds like you're running a positive to the back of the car, but the ground is local. The factory has a ground directly from the battery to the block...

I'm assuming it goes through the snorkel hole and not the fender. You'll need an aftermarket filter to clear.
