    Oil overfill?

Dipstick tubes are pressed into 7m blocks. If not pressed in fully, they will stand up too tall, giving erroneous dipstic readings (reads lower than actual level). They cannot be driven in too far, as they seat on the fatter part of the tube. Because it's hidden behind the motor mount, it can...

Leaking water between head and block, Seen this before?

Ahh, yes, good approach. Measure from cam cover surface to head surface on all four corners. I hadn't thought of that, obviously. Thanks. Another free check method for you, grim?

    Engine wiring harness

Man, I hate that wiring harness. Just one more example of how difficult things are to work on in a Supra. Congrats on the removal, though. Oil on the manifold = leaking cam covers or crankcase breather hose, common, but not good. Oil in the intake = pcv blowby, common and normal, up to a...

My project 1989 supra turbo with targa top

Welcome to the Supra community. There are no seals available from Toyota for the oil pump itself, so that might be what's confusing your dealer. The part you are after is called an "oil pump drive shaft seal" and Toyota should still have them available. Mine came in the complete engine gasket...

    Going lean under boost

So correct me if I'm wrong, but the recommended repair for the OP's problem is to "wiggle the wires?" Is this supposed to "fix" the problem? What happens when the wires get "wiggled" the wrong way again? Just trying to clarify for anyone else who might expereince this problem in the...

    Going lean under boost

Holy crap, are you stalking me JJ? And yes, I do think you are starting something. You haven't offered any help with this comment. It has nothing to do with the OP's problem. If you have information, share it, don't come busting my balls for trying to help. That just makes you look...

    Clutch question- yay!

You be the judge. It appears that the R154, 7MGTE FW surface is 9 5/8". This HPF Ferramic disk is `9.5"

    CajunKenny's Build Thread

Heavier rides better? That's wierd. My understanding of physics says that reduced unsprung wieght allows for more suspension movement prior to body movement, so I am confused. Our new Enkie's dropped 8 lbs. front and 10 lbs. rear, and the ride improved noticably, especially over bumps and at the...

Leaking water between head and block, Seen this before?

Wouldn't this be used for checking the flatness of the head, (or block or whatever) using the feeler gauge between the straight edge and the head surface? If he had a cock-eyed head job, how could you tell if the head was ground off one side more than the other, i.e. the head surface is not...

Are the SAFC and VAFC connections soldered, or quick-spliced?

    Going lean under boost

Which wires did you jiggle? I've had the quick-connect wire splices lose contact on the SAFC and AVCR. I now solder all connections to an Autosport Wiring adapter plug.

Gettin' lippy! I like it! And like Dave said, the gray goes well with the car. They just look RIGHT. Like they were suposed to be on the car originally. When you know a car looks good, but don't know why, that is when all the parts and styles are working in harmony to make a simply beautiful...

    90 Turbo won't start

How many confirmed ECU failures are there? And of the ones that failed, how many failed NOT due to abuse (incorrect connections or faulty wiring). I didn't think Toyota ECU's failed very often by themselves. However, I have replaced all wiring harnesses on my cars because I kept having...

Leaking water between head and block, Seen this before?

Cockeyed head job? I had one of those while I was in England. No wait, that was a Cockneyed head job (LOL)! Does anyone know how to check if the head surface is perpendicular to the bolt holes through the head? Yeah, and depending on what machine the shop used (CNC, Mill, belt sander), it...

    No start (spark?)...

JJ, yes, post #28 was sarcasm, That's why I asked the question "Seriously?" And I apologise for not being the most forum-quote savvy person here. In my post #30, I did state that I fixed several other wiring issues at the same time I replaced the ground strap, so I might be mistaken on the...

Sorry, didn't mean to offend anyone or insult anyones intelligence. I was just looking for answers that I did not have. For that I thank you. But as you would prefer to leave me in the dark rather than to explain something to me...Well, that's real nice. Thank you. BTW, My point...

Leaking water between head and block, Seen this before?

My first guess is a lack of clamping, either not equally (warped surfaces, damaged threads, etc.) or not adequately (bolts too long, washers too thin, holes not deep enough, etc.). I'd be tempted to measure the bolts fully seated in the block, then measure the depth of the holes in the head...
