What turbo is this?.

Hey guys i am looking to buy a holset turbo but i dont know what series i am dealing with. It is coming off a 2002 ram i would appriciate any input thanks. Brad

hx35 is what my buddy has on his 01 24v cummins

I just talked to the guy and he told me he upgraded to the hx35 i dont know if it being an auto makes a diff on the turbos?.

i know his is a 01 cummins 24v with built auto, hx35(he says is stock), edge, injectors blah blah blah

If it came off of an automatic then it is a hy-35w.... the manual should be the hx-35.

So it may be a dumb question is there a big diff between the two. Or should i just wait to get my hands on a hx3?. The guy wants 250 with about 50k on it. Thanks for the imput guys.

The Hy-35 has a smaller exhaust housing and the flow rate is a little different... just depends on what your looking for. $250 isn't too hateful depending on the condition, I only payed $125 for mine in perfect condition but that was a rare find.

Hmm alright so it should spool a little better. I am going to go take a look at it tomarrow so i will determine then if i want it.

they are very cheap to rebuild as well i was going to go the hx35 route but ended up finding a garrett gt40r for a better price. Holset are great turbos I've seen diesels beat and beat on them for 100s of thousands of miles and they are still spooling great

I got my HY35 off of a 2002 Automatic Cummins

Slapped it on my 7m in a 77 Celica

So with going with this turbo what kind of power should i be looking at?. I have a full fuel system upgrade including walbro 550cc inj. 3" full exhaust. Safc. Stock style npr pistons. Aem wideband.lex afm. Just kinda curious
