i have been searching and reading so much my eyes hurt. i have a headache...

maybe i am a retarded girl but.. tomorrow i go pick up a 76 liftback gt celica.

my boyfriends best friend totaled his mkIv and is letting me have his 2j for a pretty sweet price.

i want the 2j in the celica. i know it fits blagh, thats not the issue. he had an auto tranny, and i don't do auto trannies. ever. they are trouble, and expensive. and if things get bad for any reason, it's noce to be able to push start a car...

anyway, long question short.

what else can mount to a 2j with little to no modification????

the r154 (mkiii) and the v160 (mkiv) are both manual transmissions that work with the 2jz, with the proper bell housing, no mods. with the r154 you'll need a 1jz flywheel and r154 clutch, with the v160 you'll need the twin turbo flywheel and clutch.

your swap sounds awesome, definitely keep me updated :D

A W5x tranny is also an option. I highly doubt a V160 will fit in the Celica's tranny tunnel. An R154 will probably at least need some creative hammering done to clear it.

I would go with a w58, as long as you don't plan on pushing 400+ rwhp through it (then again, as light as the '76 should be, it may not even be a problem then ;))

Your best bet and cheapest is keep the auto. You can get 2jzgte autos all day for around $250-700 bucks. A R-154 5-speed,1jz bell, custom driveshaft, clutch, etc. $1,500-3,000. Or the MK4 V160 6-speed $3,500-10k. Autos are good to 500rwhp. I've been running that on my stock high mileage one for nearly 2years with zero problems. Also staying auto you never get out of boost under WOT and NO can shift faster then you.

I looked into w58s for a manual option if your putting out over 400whp which is easy to do on just a BPU that tranny wont last for crap
