Okay I picked up my 1991 MkIII for 2500, it was making a weird sound from the rear end but it turned out to be a bad weld...rewelded it and its all good. Next step is the suspension....the springs are almost fully compressed and there is about 3" of 3/4 inch pipe acting as a spacer between the top of the coilover and the strut tower I have never seen anything like it before and the only thing I can think of is that they aren't the correct coilovers and they jimmy rigged it, the guy I bought them from said he put them there so it wouldn't bottom out on everything. Any ideas on this or input would be greatly appreciated, I am probably going to be getting a set of Stance Coilovers but I have to figure out the headlight problem first.
