I was thinking about going with an upgraded oil cooling system and i havent been able to find any info on using a water to oil oil cooler. A lot of passenger cars seem to use this from the factory, my MR2 that i used to have had a sandwich plate under the filter for just this. Also, most heavy duty diesel applications use an oil to water cooler.

Benefits of doing this would be
-No oil lines to route
-Keeps oil at relatively the same temp as coolant
-Faster oil warm up
Not really sure what the downsides are, which is why im making this thread. Why don't more people use this setup? What are the downsides? Thanks for any tips.
