im not looking for DRs, as the car will be used for "spirited" driving through some turns and whatnot, with the occasional drag or highway pull. they would be mounted on 18s (i think they are either 18x8 or 18x8.5). oh, i also wanted something with good treadwear, somethinng that wont die in like 10k miles, and someting that wont cost me over 200 a tire. thx in a advance.

I just picked up some Kumho Ecsta SPTs from eBay for 190US/pair (225/45/18). I've read quite a few positive reviews on them.

People rave about the Falken RT615 (i think thats it?).. they have awesome straight line grip but stiff sidewalls for handling as well..

they are ~ 165 a tire at discounttiredirect.com in 245/40/18s.. tread wear rating is 200.... so as long as you dont beat on them constantly they will last for a while.. but probably not more then 15k miles..

Just to let you know Niitto DR's are dual temp tires w/treadwear of 100. I got about 15,000 miles out of a pair on a 13 sec. car. They only get real grippy when they are really warmed up. I preffer them over the BFG DR's that have a treadwear of 10-15. as far as handling on the street they were like the regular nitto's but not in rain.
