Taillights, Can They Be Taken Apart?

Hi,

I'm just wondering if 93-98 taillights can be taken apart. Are they plastic welded shut? Do they use semi soft glue to hold the lens to the housing?

If anyone has any experience with them, let me know.

Plastic Is Not Really Welded But Maybe Sealed With A Special Glue. They Are Usually Called "Sealed Beam," But Don't Quote Me On That.

Not MKIV guy, but from experience most plastic taillights are either "super glued" or ultra-sonicly welded. either way a PITA to dismantle without damage.

it's glue.. just put it in the oven with all the wiring and bulbs off or heat gun it.

yeah, most headlights/taillights can be baked, and then slowly pryed apart...

Toyota also has a tendency to have a few rivets in there as well that you need to remove. Best to find a cheap pair to experiment with first.

not really, I've seen MKIV Supra taillights go for $100 a side brand new, my xB's tails cost more..
