Whats up guys,

I'm new to Supras, my name is Ben and I just picked up an 89 turbo 5sp, actually traded my beater daily for it :icon_razz

It has a 45k engine in it, new gaskets and stuff.. seems really solid. Body is straight but paint is faded to hell. Interior is decent but that doesn't matter to me.

Already has a front mount (that I may redo) w/bov, intake, "stage 1" clutch whatever that is (6 puck?) and fidanza flywheel

My plans:
stripped interior, full cage, sparcos
coils, brakes
Panasport G7's. 17x8.5 and 9.5
flat white bomb canned paint (paint the trim or don't paint the trim??)
for engine I'm thinking:
-fmic & intake
-exhaust
-57trim or 60trim ct26 for now, possible bigger snail later
-12/14lbs of boost
-mhg, etc etc
I'd like around 400hp and would like to keep stock fuel system, stock bottom end, etc.
Oh and this car is Heavy! She will definitely be going on a Major diet

This will be my daily.

The only bad thing is that I am a full time poor college student, so this will definitely be a budget racer. Look for reviews from me on some of the cheap tuning parts, I plan on buying them.

A couple pics from the day I got her

Oh and I come from the world of Volkswagens, by the way
here are my other cars:

Thoughts? Suggestions? Advice?

Thanks
-Ben

Here's the list of mods i plan on doing to my car after my rebuild, these mods should put you up to or around 400Rwhp, no offense but front wheel drive cars suck if the VR6 came on a rear wheel drive car i'd probly have bought one of those.

$187 2.0 mm Metal Head Gasket,
http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/prod/13511183
$119 ARP studs,
http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/prod/arp-203-5402
$625 57trim ct26,

$202 Blow off valve, http://www.sportcompactonly.com/Blo...erformance/performance-parts_c-52_pl-1213.htm
$32 Mounting Flange http://www.sportcompactonly.com/Blo...ion/Performance/part_c-52_pl-1213_p-25137.htm

$73 Speed Cut Controller
http://www.nolimitmotorsport.com/prod/15590201
$535 RC Engineering 550cc Injectors (set of six)
http://www.suprastore.com/rcen55inseto.html
$239 Lexus Style AFM
http://www.suprastore.com/lestafm7msul.html
$150 K&N FIPK - Air Intake System

http://www.suprastore.com/hks30inpitos.html
$399 1987-1992 Supra Turbo Intercooler Kit
http://www.suprastore.com/19sutuinkitt.html

The total for all these mods is some where around 6k with shipping and taxes. Being a car guy i'm guessing u will be doing the work urself. Btw when u get to 400Hp u wont be driving your VW's anymore u'll be selling them one by one to upgrade ur supra.

Last thing paint the trim Black, in my opinion a lowered white supra with black rims and trim is one sexy car.

Thanks for the reply

I'm sure you're already aware but I'm assuming you realize that you can get a lot of that stuff for a lot cheaper, right?

As for selling my volkswagen stuff it has already begun :biglaugh:
Except for the brown rabbit, she will never leave me

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
sounds like you got a supra for a steal! congrats!
I wont be the last to tell you this, buy a good torque wrench if you dont already have one, as well as a 10mm extended allen socket.
Pull your valve covers off and torque your head down to 72-80 lb/ft.
Do it in 5-8 lb/ft increments starting at factory spec. and in the pattern displayed in repair manual to avoid warping the head.
Reasoning: The factory torque spec is insufficient and will loosen up causing you a premature blown head gasket.
If one of the studs is stuck turn to loosen it only until it breaks free then torque it back down.

again welcome to the forums and best of luck to you with your supra!

Just wanted to quickly say that you guys were right :biglaugh:

The motor that I've been building for the brown rabbit since I was about 16 is no longer going in the car. It was a crazy longblock I'd compiled and custom built and it was to be turboed, I am now selling the Entire engine setup and all the turbo stuff.

There are several reasons behind this, but the extra $5,000+ I'll make from selling it will definitely come in handy for the supra :icon_razz haha

As far as what I've done to the car thus far:
-Megan Coils (actually Really good, I'll do a write up soon)
-3" HKS downpipe
-3" Blitz NurSpec exhaust
-17" Panasports as mentioned with 235/45 and 255/40 BFG G-Sports
-Stripped interior. Have one Sparco almost ready to go in
-New colder plugs, new MSD 8.5mm wires, Redline MTL-90 tranny fluid, HG Torqued to 72lbs

Next:
-interior: only the dash and the sparcos. Full Cage as soon as I sell my VW long block
-engine: Lexus AFM, 500cc injectors, boost controller. later=57trim. I'm not currently looking to go crazy with the engine.
-outside: Satin white, hopefully an early nose piece as well. CF Hood once I have an extra $600+ dollars laying around...

Welcome to SM.

Your Supra looks good, the paint isn't a big deal, as long as the car's fast hahaha.

Do you have a recent pic of your car cause I really want to see the stance of your car with the coilovers and 17's.
