question for you guys (new install)-

I have a real bad rpm stumble at initial tip in of the throttle, as well as a bad hesitation right around 2k. I tried fooling with the tps enrich and decay settings, and it improved some, but I noticed my values were way different than any others I could find.

I also noticed when playing the log back that the map pressure (inhg, not kpa) was significantly different than my digital boost gauge, which leads me to believe that the vaccum source for the MAP sensor is getting pinched some where...and I would imagine this would have a direct impact on this stumble that I am fighting....

Any input would be appreciated. Few notes: this is a really basic tune - PTT is off as well as FTT - right now I am trying to tune for VF as well as break the motor in.

engine set-up:
New engine (14mi so far)
JE pistons and rings, crower rods, clevitte clearanced @ .0015-0016, ati dampner, shimed pump, ARZ pump output, custom pan (7qts) oil cooler w/ 180 thermostat
fresh head (ferrea valves, springs, retainers), 550cc RC injectors, 2 1/2" IC pipes, Spearco IC, fresh TD06 on stock manifold.
IG timing @10deg btdc, cams are strait up (on adjustable gears), toyota 192thermostat, koyo rad, alum flywheel, DXD feramic clutch, marlin crawler R154

have you benched the tps to make sure its all good? I had a couple of bad spots on mine which caused similar probs. Perhaps swap it out...? no codes but it made a night & day diff with mine.

try turning the boost enrich off.

try turning the boost control function off. one of the cars i was trying to tune it was causing some issues. atleast take that out of the equation.

might also try lowering the displacement to 2.8 or 2.9L that seems to help as well.

also, you say you have ptt disabled. 4.6 doesnt have ptt, 4.8 does. you sure you have the software, asd and xdf matching? you may try to do a hard reset on the mpro, then reflash the software version. i've had the best luck w/ 4.65

whoops, I thought I had updated this thread (I did over of FTT). anyway, here was Wednesday's results:
update:

moved the vac source and it was better. fooled with the TPS and MAP settings (in response) and it was much better still - almost stockish (good).

So I put ~ 25mi on it (gas station, through the mountains, etc) and here is the question(s) that I now have:

hot start: idles @ ~16.5:1 and then comes down to 14~ (30sec). No stumble if I let is settle out. Afterstart is 2.2, but I doubt that it affects hot starts. Can I tune this out or should I just not worry about it?

tuning for VF vs realtime AF: I will be cruising along with my af's @14.x and vf ~2v, then for no apparent reason, vf will drop to 0v, af stays the same. Let off the throttle (fuel is cut), pick the throttle back up, 14.5-15.5af, vf ~2v. Then after 30sec or so, vf drops to 0v, af stays the same.... any ideas there?

This is all on 4.65, so there is no PTT - so that can't be what is fighting the system. Ideas would be appreciated.

And then I drove it some more yesterday, made some additional changes and I think i'm getting there. The only issue I'm having is that the VF signal doesn't seem to be working anymore on the pro - so I'll check it at the diag block and see if its a wiring issue (shouldn't be, as all connections are soldered, but stranger things have happened). Here is where I ended up yesterday (idle around 15-15.4, cruise in the high 13s, low 14s). I also popped an IC coupling somewhere during yesterday's drive, so I'm not sure how its going to act when I run it next (after fixing the issue) - might need some more tweaking.
