Maft Pro wiring question

i had a SAFCII hooked up before the maft pro, i had to solder the AFM signal wire back together cuz the maft pro installation instrustions say to just TAP all the wires. seems kinda weird to me, should i have left the wire cut and only connected the MAFT pro to the ECU side of that wire?

Are you running speed density? Do you have the stock maf meter in place? If you remove the meter and run speed density you dont have to cut it because it then does not go to anything. More info needed with your setup.
