I just went to the dragstrip for this first time friday.
13.9 @ 123 MPH :nono: I'm a terrible driver
I'm in need of some traction, and in need of help..

info on my car: 600+whp, weekend car, ~200 miles a week.

What do you guys think:

Drag radials on sawblades-
PROS
-beefier sidewalls

CONS
-not very wide

Drag radials on 17X10's-
PROS
-Wider than sawblades
-Car looks good at track

CONS
-Treadware = waste of rubber on the road

Full slicks- (not worth putting on sawblades are they??)
PROS
-traction!!!

CONS
-$$$$
-Gotta get skinnies up front

What are you running currently?

Do you want a set of wheels/tires that are on all the time, or do you want a dedicated setup for drag usage?

Just want to make sure i have everything clear before i offer a suggestion :)

Good for highway roll-ons

Going to shock load driveline and break stuff

Meh, same as DRs on sawblades aside from looks and a bit less sidewall for even more driveline shock.

Full slicks- (not worth putting on sawblades are they??)

Also not street legal.

I'd say get some ET street bias plies for the sawblades or RX7 wheels (skinnies up front) and get some pimp wheels for the street with drag radials on them. That is what most people around here do. You can still put the ET streets on if you have a dig race on the street and you will have enough traction for 2nd gear roll ons with the pimp wheels and DRs.

BTW, what was your 60' time on the 13.9? 3.0?

Thanks for the suggestions :)

I can't recall my 60', timeslip is in the car. I believe it was ~2.7 :biglaugh:

I'm currently running Falken Azenis 275 45 17 front, 275 40 17 rear.

I had those on my SC. They handled great but were completely worthless for straight line traction. I'd regularly spin 3rd gear on the street with only ~450 hp. I did manage a 12.7 with them (2.1 60') at the track though.

what clutch are you running? to get a good launch you have to slip it just like regular driving only @ launch rpm. do that with the dr on you sawblade and you'll get sub 2. 60ft (if u do it right)

yeah that is a problem, it is gonna be hard to get ur 60 down without slipping ur clutch. you could always narrow a ford 9 inch, tub the car and put in a 4 link and slicks and skinnies so u dont have to slip.

I agree w/ Brian(chevyeater).

Get some 26x10.5x16 ET streets for the sawblades, and find some used 15x4 Draglites (all over the place!) and then get a new set of M/T ET fronts (less than $100 each IIRC). Fairly economical, and it will WORK! :)

Just going off memory, but i think they were 2.25 bs. You'll need a 3/8" spacer to clear the caliper though. That's just due to the design of the Draglite though, not necessarily the backspacing...

I agree that a good clutch is essential. I would also be interested in knowing what clutch you are running? Please inform and I will see what I can do.

Dude... this thread was revived from 2.5 years ago??

On topic... I don't slip the clutch using full slicks on sawblades. Just let the boost climb to ~7psi, then dump the thing and HANG ON.
