heater core

How can I check that my heater core is ok? I just replaced my thermostat and rad cap (both were worn out) and my fan works on all settings, but it only blows cold air. Now my clutch fan is always running, so I was thinking that might be a problem. I just don't know enough about this engine to know what to do next. If anyone can help, thanks a lot.

The first thing to check is that the Heater Water Valve Assy. is functioning. It's located on the passenger side firewall in the engine compartment, behind the ABS actuators. Check to make sure that the vacuum actuator is pulling the valve up when you switch from cold to hot. The engine needs to be running at operating temp during this test.
