EGR Block off plates

I was lookin around on ebay and found these.

It seems like a good idea to me.
I just want to get some input about it first.
Just wandering what the advantages and disadvantages would be on an 89 N/A?

"EGR removal. Once disabled it should stop dumping exhaust gasses into the intake. It's easy to disable, just pull the vacuum lines off it. The best way to do it however is to completely remove the system. It's pretty hard to do without removing the head so you might want to wait until you have the head off for some other purpose. You'll just need to remove everything connected to the EGR and put a block off plate on the back of the head and another plate on the intake plenum. John Lunsford sells a decent set of block off plates, or you can make your own easily."

Not any power gains just keeps the intake a little cleaner.

read this, you'll see removing it can be quite detrimental.

However, it will keep your intake a little cleaner, and if emissions aren't an issue it may not be a horrible idea. It's not as critcal on an NA as it is a turbo car. Emissions are not tested for a car as old as mine where I live, I'm removing the EGR and using a japanese ECU that knows EGR is not present on the motor, removing the chances of my engine knocking under load.

if you are runnin NA then exhaust gas temp doesnt matter much, correct? does deleting the egr do anything for gas milage? i know that it is a pain in the ass to deal with when doing a HG replacement or anything on that side of the intake it gets in the way. for a NA is it a good idea?

It's never a good idea. And yes, your gas mileage will go down.

It doesn't hurt anything, so there's no reason to remove it.
