E-manage blue timing control

I have an emanage blue running on a JDM 2JZ (MAP based). I wanted it mostly just to get over the fuel cut at 13psi while still being able to control the fuel mixture above that point. At the time, I didn't bother connecting anything timing related because I figured no matter what, the ECU would re-learn and independently adjust timing anyway. I don't like tricking the ECU into thinking its at 13psi all the time and giving me that timing base, even if I only plan on boost 18-19psi.

Is what I suspect correct? That even if I retard the timing at 18psi, the ECU will try to bring it back ?
