Degreeing the Cams Question about the Crankshaft Degree Wheel

I am troubleshooting a timing issue with my BC 264 cams and I am returning to the basics and need to make sure the cams are properly degreed in. My initial question, for anyone who has experience doing this, is it possible to attach the degree wheel to the harmonic balancer, or do I need to remove the balancer and attach the degree wheel directly to the crankshaft? Thanks!

If you can get the degree wheel centered on the pulley you'll be fine. This is how I did it.

When you say pulley, are you referring to the harmonic balancer? If so, how did you attach it?

Do you have any pro-tips from your experience degreeing your cams? Thanks!

On the factory pulley, I think that there are two m8 holes drilled into it that aid removal. I would expect that you could mount to those.

Just to follow-up with this, the two M8 holes inside the harmonic balancer worked like a charm. I had to bore out th3 ecenter hole of the degree wheel a little bit to allow the 19mm socket to fit on the crank, but other than that, it centered up on the pulley nicely. Thanks!
