Code 42

I installed a JDM ECU, and now have a code 42. The Supra runs very well even w/ this code. My question is; what are the consequences to the engine, for not fixing a code 42? Thanks. Van

Runs well" is subjective. The consequences are relatively minor for the engine but major for other systems eg; cruise and TEMS. If it were me I'd fix it anyway.

Speed is used for idle control and some diagnostics checks, so as JJ said, its worth fixing.

Thanks for the information Jetjock. I'll have my mechanic take care of it.

This just occurred to me; would blocking the SPD signal to the JDM ECU affect the ECU speed limiter? Van

Iirc it'll disable it.

I'll test it on the chassis dyno at the shop (for top speed), and then we'll know. Van
