No more 0-40 for this dog nothing but GC0-30. I found a Bottle of GC dated to 2002 and it doesnt say European formula and its made on the US. Weird....

It's 0w-30, says European Formula on it, and on the back says "Made in Germany."

I'll drive by some of the local Autozones tomorrow then and check it out myself. Can't see the "Made in Germany" part on the website :p

Can somebody please give me some more information on this oil? I have heard about it before but I'm not too familar with it.

Also, I fell under the thick oil spell too and have been running synthetic 20W-50 for awhile. Did I do any damage?

It's extremely good oil that can be found reasonably priced. Not much more to say.

As for damage, how about taking a sample and sending it off for analysis? That will tell you what's going on inside your engine.

Well I used to use Mobil 1 10W-30 and just used 20W-50 recently. The motor had 10W-30 for most of it's life.

Damage is a relative term. Don't worry about it. Just don't run that stuff again, especially during the winter you have up there.

Anyone who thinks there's no solid evidence about this should join the SAE. It's amazing how some people seem to think internal combustion was invented yesterday and there hasn't been nearly 100 years of study about it...

damnit i should have use the search engine before posting a thread on 20 50 oil.. hopefully mods dont accept it. lol
anyways. i have atleast 500 miles on a freshly rebuilt 7m.. i used 0-30 to break it in. i have heard myths about running 20w-50 in your car you you happen to be pushing your car hard. can you confirm that? but after reading through this thread it kinda opened up my mind a little. anyways since i have 20w-50 oil to begin with, do you think it is safe to run it?..

No. Don't use it.

20w50 would only be safe if your in a track inviroment and constantly running at higher rpms like a road race. Even then you stil need to let the oil get to operatic temps.
