I tryed some Cam 2 today... put a few gallons in from an empty tank. Its 110 octain. The stuff works VERY well, I went from knock at higher boost (based on meter) to no knock at all with whatever boost I wanted to run. The stuff is $6.70 a gallon here :nono: I have herd there are other stuff you can make your own for cheaper with like paint thinner or somethin strange like that?? IDK, the ocatin booster additive does not have the same effect, its junk, is there any cheaper solution for 110 or higher octain then Cam 2 at $6.70 a gallon?? If so does anyone know the mixture ratio for the additive based on 93 pump gas? I forget what it was but some was talkin about pain thinner or somethin strange like that and u get it for cheap and u can make your own but I dont know the ratio or if thats what the additive was??

Looks like for 114 octain you have to run it pure, is this safe?

Toulene
R+M/2...114
Cost...$2.50/gal
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10%...94.2 Octane
20%...96.4 Octane
30%...98.6 Octane

*** Its about 6 bucks a gallon so it would be about the same price of cam 2 ***

You would need to go 50% toluene/xylene to get about 100 octane.

Here's the math:

(A x gas octane) + (B x 114 or 117) / (A + B) = Octane Value

A = gallons of gas
B = gallons of toluene
114 = octane value of toluene
117 = octane value of xylene

Not too sure I'd want to go to the 50% level with this...mixing a gallon of either with a tank of 91-92 octane gas will give you about 94 octane.

Been running a gallon of xylene in 91 octane for about 5 tanks now...works really well. No adverse effects.

I would need to go 100% to get the 114 octain and it would be about the same price as cam 2 at 110 octain...

"about $6/gallon in a 5 gallon can from a chemical supply or paint store"

wow thats expensive for 110. its 3.49 here last i looked.

couple things to point out here tho in general. too high of an octane can decrease performance. if you see huge gains on race gas vs pump gas either the car isnt tuned right or you are running too much boost on pump.
