Well, a little over a week ago while driving to work, had the radio up pretty loud, and in between tracks, I get to hear that nice knock knock knock sound. Got the car towed back to the house, and really didnt start working on it till this past Sunday. Luckily, a local friend of mine does nothing but swap 6.0L LQ4&9 engines into pretty much anything, and he had a spare LQ4 shortblock sitting at the shop. Got that for a deal, and that will be the base of whats going back in.

Planning on the LQ4 block, ported 806 casting heads, and the LS6 cam I had in it previously going back into the car.

This thing has turned out to be more work than the previous owner made it seem. So I've decided that once its back to running I will be selling it, and getting something a little more reliable.

heres some pics

the shortblock with "40K" on the clock, pretty damned dirty for 40K

LQ4 = 5.3l, correct? Sorry to hear you're thinking of moving on, but I for one certainly don't blame you. I ended up giving mine to a friend who is gonna be doing a good deal of work to a Mk3 for me this upcoming year.

Shame too, they're good looking cars, it's really too bad that GM cheaped out on them and cut more corners than me on GT5. :p

i think the 5.3 is LR3 or something like that

the LQ4 is a 9.4:1 6.0 & LQ9 is 10:1

ya its a fun car, but from the word of the previous owner, it wouldnt need much "work", not sure if I got the memo from when a motor swap stopped being considered as working on the car

Sorry that you're gonna have to go through with that man, doesn't seem all that uncommon in the LS world though. After this latest batch (foot or so) of snow however, I've decided to retire the Mk3 to 3 season duty and probably get a Legacy wagon or an All-Trac Celica or something that I can just not care if it gets dented up.

Argh, now I really miss AZ. Oh well, when it DOES snow, I get a good laugh out of you southern-residing people trying to drive in it. :p
