Im trying to learn the basics of tuning and i have some basic questions. Does anyone know what a "safe" timing curve is for the stock 7mgte, will this change dramatically depending on conditions such as elevation, boost obviously affects the timing dramatically but how does one calculate how much to retard/advance with boost? Or has anyone measured the stock timing curve? can this be done with a variable degree timing light? i guess thats all for now but i'd love to get into this if we can -thanks

safe timing curve is what Toyota Programmed in the TCCS.

ask 3p in the tccs decompile section. Though from reading that thread, seems like toyota did not program a 2d table. it was a 1d table though I have not brushed up on the new findings.

How do you calculate timing adv/ret? Very sophisticated (read more expensive than anyone on this forum is willing to pay) software that can do that real time OR on the dyno using the minimum best timing "technique".
