back in the supra game

finally decided to jump back into a supra after not owning one since around 2001 when i sold my last one :/

picked up a 1989 turbo 5 speed car. i had been looking for around 6 months for a decent starting point for a 2jzgte swap. i looked for months and people within a reasonable distance to pick one up was either way over priced for the condition or more rust than i wanted to deal with or the car was hacked up from attempting to do a swap.
after deciding to make the 3 hour trip to look at the car i picked up knowing the car had motor issues just went ahead and took a trailer because the guy was a b*tch to deal with on the phone.
the car had sat for 3 years before i purchased it. the guy said it had a burnt valve. but after a jump the car started right up.. it ran rough but well enough to load on the trailer and to unload which is always a plus. at idle you could not tell the car had any issues at all. but the turbo was shot and leaked oil through it.
need to find a front and rear bumper due to damage but overall rust is almost non existent on the shell that i have seen so far.
so few weeks ago pulled the motor out and sold it and have a few pieces of what i had laying around from it on ebay and getting ready to start cleaning it up and body work will start asap and getting ready to put a ton of parts from driftmotion in it.

the stripes are going. im pretty sure i am going back with white... just not sure if i want to do a matte white or pearl it.
the molded the lower splash guards in the front to the fenders and body of the car and its cracked and nasty looking.. other than that the body is straight.
i have the complete history of the car from the time it was new until when i purchased it so thats kinda nice to have.

If you need a rear pan let me know. Got one sitting in the shed with bolts. clean from the machine shop too. Looks good for a sitter....3 years and still in great shape. I wish you the best with that swap too

Welcome to SM,
Nice find, glad its outta the weeds. Another good white is Mercedes bone white from the 70's.
A pic of mine before I put it in storage, its in the shade so the white doesn't come out as good.My Benz 001.jpg

thanks
i was really glad to find a 99% rust free supra. after looking at everyone just about that came up for sale locally within an hour drive and all of them just being beat to death and tons of rust. i have the paint ideas down to white (not 100% on shade) or a great gray color i found that i think would look great... or a combo of the gray and white in a 2 tone. going to lay it out in forza 4 and see if i like the way it looks when i get a chance.
