Just wanted to know cause i am not seeing a whole lot on this but i have an 88 ma71 with an a340e. I pumped the boost a little bit and now my tranny is toast. Suprise. Rumaging around the internet i discovered the a341e and its differences. I found one for a killer deal and am going to swap it.
How many have actually done this swap? Just want to know

Hi,

I haven't swapped it myself at the moment.

I dig in the differences and here are my finds:
- Valve body is different, with a solenoid for pressure line instead of a cable actuated valve
- The bell is different because the torque converter is bigger
- The end shaft is different, the output is a triangular plate with 3 bolts

That's a bunch of differences, my guess is that it is easier to swap A341 clutch pack and some other internal in A340

The one i have is out of a 92 ls400 and still has the throttle cable. The case between the two is identical but yes the input and output shaft are wrong. 20 spline vs 26 spline. The converter used will not bolt up to our flywheel.
Needless to say this is not a bolt on soution but could be done.
Swaping the input and output shafts during the rebuild and the 7m bell bolts on.
When i get into the internals ill list up the differnces. Stay tuned
