94 4runner knock sensor.

hay guys did a knock sensor on my cousins runner, just rewired the whole circuit.
it did nothing completely stumped. Everything is soldered, I have done this successfully on my supra already.

The 4runner is a beater and the engine has seen better days, could engine knock set off the sensor, and cause the code 52?
or could someone point me in a good direction?

Did you ground the shielding wire? Did you use the right kind of wire?

new sensor from toyota, stock 3vze.
yes i did ground the shielding wire at the ECU.
used 50 ohm stranded Coaxial wire.

i have been reading on some 4runner forums and some of the guys are moving the knock sensor to the engine hoist mount. what do you guys think? i am just trying to help my cousin smog his truck. I am really surprised the rewire did not work.
